The Week Ahead: MS State Meet Headlines Big Weekend Of Races

This is a pretty big weekend with several big invitationals. But the Georgia Middle School State Meet is by far the biggest meet of the weekend. This meet is becoming more and more important every year. When it first started it was more of a great way to end a fun season for the middle school athletes, but didn't tell us too much about future success outside of a few individuals. Now this meet tells us quite a bit about the future of the sport in the state. Middle school programs are becoming more and more popular and those kids feed into their high schools and are making more and more of an impact on the overall results. Getting a head start in this sport can be helpful, if done safely, and middle school athletes are taking advantage. Many of the top athletes in the state competed at this meet at some point over the years and that is why this meet is the feature meet this weekend.
