MileSplit Georgia will be on site for pictures, interviews, and videos.
This weekend, Saturday, January 21 & Sunday January 22, Pole
Vault Atlanta will be presenting the GA Indoor Pole Vault State Championships at the Atlanta Track Club's Indoor
Facility. This is the 8th Annual edition of this event.
This year's two-day meet will host over 110 vaulters from all over
GA and surrounding states. The meet will have ages 8 to 80 competing for the
State Title! This meet will be the largest Indoor pole vault only meet held
east of the Mississippi. It is also the oldest such event (at 8 years) in the
Southeast.
Girls
Highlights Preview:
Although Becky Arbiv's Meet
record of 13-7 looks to hold its place, there will be plenty of sharp
competition for the State Title.
Amelia Johnson of Hart County comes in with the top mark of 12-8. She is followed
closely by two more mid 12's in Kelly
Regan (Mt Pleasant PV) at 12-6 and Silvana Lopez Ramirez (Altitude Sickness) with her
recent PR of 12-5.5.
Three PV-ATL jumpers appear to be in striking distance of the
leaders:
Layla Keadle, 12-2, Madison Townsend, 11-10.75 & 9th Grade upstart Adair Carlin, 11-10.75
Boys
Highlights Preview:
The Boys competition looks to be heated and HIGH! Hunter Mallard's Meet Record of 16-0.25
looks like it will be in jeopardy by two boys in particular:
Zane Gibson(Flicky Stick PV) and Brenden Vanderpool (Whitfield PV) have both cleared 15-8.5 this Indoor Season, both
posting PR's in the same meet. The battle between these guys I going to be
great!
Rounding out the next tier of jumpers, all over 14-6, are:
Jordan Frank, (PV-ATL): 14-8.5, Finley Link, (PV-ATL):
14-8.5, Connor McLain, (Flicky
Stick PV): 14-6.5, Owen Anderson, (Sky
Vault), 14-6.25, & Will Frederick, (Flicky Stick PV): 14-6.25
