Future Stars: Liliana Beemer Uses Kick To Win MS State Title

Beemer winning the 800m title at the middle school state meet.

Liliana Beemer showed up ready to race this weekend. And she had herself 3 very good races. The 7th grader from Evans MS is finishing up her first outdoor season after seeing quite a bit of success this school year. She launched a monster kick from just over 200m to go in the race against one of the best runners in middle school state history to take the win and dip just under 2:20 for the first time. Check out her whole story by watching her post race interview.

She started running this fall and went undefeated en route to winning the Large Schools division title at the 2021 Georgia Middle School State Cross Country Championships. She ran the 8th fastest time of the entire meet that day. Then during indoor season she decided to test out her racing on the short oval and put up a few fast fast times, all in one day. She ran a 5:37 full mile, 11:07 3k, and 2:28 800 in the same day, winning all 3.

She got her outdoor season started off at the 2022 Parkview Distance kickoff posting a 5:20 1600 to take 5th overall and 2nd in the middle school girls division. She then lowered her PR's in the 3200 to 11:47 and the 1600 to 5:16 at the middle school state meet finishing 4th and 3rd respectively. But she saved her best for last, capturing her first state title with a time of 2:19.92 to win the 800 in a loaded middle school girls field. Her kick is something special as she clearly gets better as the distances get shorter. But she's also got tremendous strength as only 4 days later she was running all 3 distance events again at the Columbia County Middle School championships. Only this time she won all 3 events and actually ran faster in all of them than she did at the state meet. On the same day.

Clearly this is an athlete on the rise and it will be fun to watch her grow and continue to race. Good luck in the future Ms. Beemer, you've had yourself a very impressive week!
