The girls Championship race at the Atlanta Classic

The Atlanta Classic

The Jefferson Invitational

This weekend was an off weekend for many of the top ranked teams, but it still saw plenty of action. I actually want to start with what happened on Thursday at the Bleckley County InvitationalLuke Churchwell continued his impressive season with a 17:12 win and South Effingham High School got the team win with 58 points. On the girls side, Margaret Wade led
Savannah Arts Academy to the win with her 20:49. And the middle school race saw Ella Gibbs continue building her impressive resume as future superstar with an 11:46 win on what doesn't appear to be a fast course.

We also had action at the Darlington Festival on Saturday. The boys winner was
Simon Schabort who has been quietly having a stellar season. This time he put up a 15:22 which should grab everybody's attention as it's one of the fastest times in the state all class. Darlington School got the boys team win with 56 points. The girls race saw Marissa Kimple and Shelby Green continue to do what they do as they go 1-2 with 19:26 and 19:35. Any team would be thrilled to have that sort of 1-2 punch. Kudos to Armuchee for nurturing that sort of talent and helping a 1A public school compete with schools that have thousands more kids than them.
Northview High School got the team win with 72 points, but Armuchee finished a very game 5th place in a big invitational.

The Atlanta Classic was the biggest meet of the weekend. Lyle Donovan took the win in a 16:02 on the traditionally fast Clinton Farms course. Mountain Brook HS got the win with 34 points over all of the Georgia squads. Reagan Riley also bested her Georgia competitors for the individual win over a very strong Cara Joyce with a time of 18:23 to Cara's 18:39. Mountain Brook HS also took the girls win. McIntosh High School got a pair of individual and team wins in the 5-7A Varsity races with Caleb Kreitner running 16:55 and Paris Alsup going 20:05.

Also the Jefferson Invitational saw sophomore Nathan Smith go 16:27 for the win as Jefferson High School beat Chattahoochee High School on a 6th man tiebreaker. Katherine Law continued her winning ways running away from the field with an 18:49 to lead Jefferson High School to the win with 50 points. Athens Christian also picked up a pair of wins in the middle school races with Ansley Moore running 13:03 and Joahan Brink running 12:14.
