It was a chilly, windy day in Sharpsburg at Trinity Christian School as the Lions hosted the first annual Coweta/Fayette Invitational. 6A Whitewater boys had too many horses in the stable as they piled up 165 points for a 52 point victory over 2nd place Landmark Christian with local school 7A East Coweta 3rd. It came as no surprise that 3A powerhouse Sandy Creek girls sprinted away from the field with all their speed also piling up 165 points. McIntosh's distance strength powered them to 2nd with 118 points while Fayette County tallied 99.50 placing 3rd. Seven MileSplit Elite performances were achieved in the events below:

Meet Director JP Weaver had these comments to make after the meet, "Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual event, currently planned to take place on Saturday, March 19, 2022! "It was a humbling experience to serve as the host school for the first annual Coweta-Fayette Invitational. This event will go down in the record books for a list of reasons, most importantly starting a new tradition for both Coweta and Fayette County to join together as a community. We are also extremely proud of our seniors who were honored on Saturday morning which includes recognizing every other senior from our visiting schools during the parade. There are a ton of lifetime memories that I will personally cherish from this event that include a large number of stadium records broken (middle school and high school), a big list of PR's established for our kids, and running as the lead leg in the 4x100m Coaches Relay for TCS. Ultimately naming the 800 meter run after Steve Sattinger will rank up at the top. As Steve was at home in Fayetteville recovering from a recent battle of meningitis he was able to experience the honor over the phone, listening in as Steve Andrews, our Public Announcer, shared the news. This special recognition took place in front of the crowd with many of Steve's dear coaching friends standing on the sideline prior to the varsity event kicking off on the track. A big shout-out goes to all of our parent and student volunteers for making this event a success! We are thankful for our sponsor, Honda of Newnan, along with our friends at Heirloom Bakery and Publix for providing our hospitality breakfast and lunch. Also, we are thankful for Kona Ice, Chick-fil-A, and Big Peach on Wheels for all participating in this event."
- JP Weaver, Meet Director
Nurse/Parent - "As a parent who is new to the track and field environment, this meet was executed with full-scale excellence. The event was organized to perfection, the facilities were fabulous, the athletes, coaches, and family were cared for well by the TCS staff and medical trainer. We were kept informed throughout the day of the schedule and any changes made to it. All in all, it was a fabulous day, and we look forward to it in the years to come."
Volunteer TCS Coach/Parent- "As a coach, Saturday was an awesome opportunity to see all of our local talents in one place and have discussions with other coaches about how to promote and give more track and field opportunities to our community." As a parent, I enjoyed seeing athletes from church and past recreation league sports friends all competing together."
