Region XC Madness: Week 12 Highlights in Pics

Well, the 2020 region championships are almost over. Seems there is an 8-A Public meet in Social Circle Saturday morning. We haven't received any results yet from the 3-A Public tilt that is not on the MileSplit Calendar (and don't expect they will post, only turn in to GHSA). All in all, we should be jubilant to have reached this point in the season, compared to 3 months ago, when our entire season was in question of even beginning... and yet, here we are just 6 days away from the GHSA Cross Country State Championships!

I suspect some guidelines will be established by state meet management, for teams, coaches, and fans to follow on race day, sometime early next week in an attempt to be COVID-19 safe. Let's finish this cross country season on a high note.

In week 2 of 'Region Madness', there were no really startling upsets, as schools qualified status quo on how they had run all season. The 'Large Schools' mostly completed their meets in Week 1... save the 3-AAAAAAA meet, which was postponed until Monday because of weather. It was here that Harrison rose up and beat favored Marietta in the boy's race, much like defending 7A girl's champ Hillgrove defeated higher-ranked Marietta. This sets a very high stage for both class 7A races this coming Saturday. We will have many more details in a preview of this class...

MileSplit Georgia will begin doing full meet previews of each class beginning Sunday afternoon, featuring for each Class:

A- The Top 5 Individuals
B- The Top 5 Teams

D- Detailed Virtual Meet
