There are 1,800 runners and 58 teams entered in the 2019 Mountain Invite at Unicoi State Park. We are expecting record highs for Thursday and are preparing for a hot race. EMS will be on site with a team of trainers with extra ice and water and we have shade and a cold river to play in.
The competition will be fierce. There are 24 Middle School teams attending, with 450 boys and 350 girls attacking the 2 mile course. The high school race features several ranked teams in multiple classifications going at it on the course that will host the 7AAA and 8AAAAA Region Championships in just 3 weeks.
Despite the heat, we could see a few boys go under 16:00 and a few girls go under 19:00 in the Varsity night cap.
