Preview Of The 2019 Alexander Asics Invitational

This is one of the largest and most competitive XC meets of the Fall season. Foxhall Sporting Club's course is fast and firm (especially with the crazy heat and lack of rain) MileSplit Georgia is fully invested, as we will be shooting video of every race and be shooting a HUGE photo gallery with a meet recap on Sunday. Below is a nice meet preview by host Meet Director Coach Brian Robinson of Alexander HS.

Individual Races

Boys:

The Boy's race this year is shaping up to be one of the most competitive Asics invites in years. The course record run by Rilley Freidman of Galloway in a time of 14:48.20 will be challenged this year. The top boy's talent this year is led by Silas Winders of Henry County HS in Tennessee. Silas was a Footlocker finalist last year and has already run under 15 this season. Silas also ran 8:58 for the 3200 last spring. He will definitely be challenged by Mary Person's Justin Wachtel. Justin has run 14:55 this season and is coming off a big win at Wingfoot. Myles Collins has had a great 2019. He ran 4:13 in the spring and has run 15:00 flat this fall. He will get a chance to get revenge on Justin this Saturday on a fast course that guys with mile speed like. The state of North Carolina will be represented by the best team from NC. They will be led by Jack Rooney, who has run 15:14 on the Nike Course. He also boasts a 4:16 PR from last spring. He has a teammate, John Malach that has run has run 15:45 this fall. Devin Wade and Zach Truitt will give us another preview of the state A Private Championship later this fall. Devin has a PR of 15:15 this fall and Zach has run 15:34. Truitt brings 4:15 true mile speed to the table and on a fast course could upset some of the favorites. Others to watch for are Jonathan Greene of Evans HS andDylan Core of Broughton. Both have broken 16 this season.

Girls:

The girl's race is going to also produce some fast times. Three ladies already have sub 18 minute performances this fall on their resume.  McKenna Trapheagen of Woodland, Hannah Miniutti of Blessed Trinity and Erin Fegans of Landmark look to battle it out. They are all within nine seconds of each other this fall. There are quite a few runners coming in with times under 19 minutes. They are led by Dinah Winders of Henry County HS in Tennessee. Dinah has run 18:06 this fall while Makenna Croft of Douglas County has run 18:13. Makenna has won every race she has entered this fall by at least 28 seconds or more. It will be interesting to see what she does with competition. Mira Srinivasa of Westminster has run 18:20, Katy Earwood of Evans has run 18:31, Ashley Sechrest has run 18:31. All of them could run much faster Saturday. We could see as many as 5 girls go under 18 minutes.

Team Races

Boys

The boy's favorite looks to be Broughton HS from North Carolina. Broughton has had three guys go under 16 this season.  They should get a strong push from Cambridge HS. Cambridge has been a 6A power the last few years and they have run well early this season. Norcross, Archer, Decatur, Alpharetta, Starrs Mill and Alexander have also looked good of late and could push Cambridge and Broughton if they run well.

Girls

The girl's team race is a clash of classifications. The team to beat looks to be 5A's McIntosh HS. McIntosh has had five girls dip under 20 minutes this season. They should get a strong challenge from Blessed Trinity, Cambridge, Starrs Mill and never forget the ring collector from Westminster. Coach Eubanks always finds a way to have her teams peak at the right time.
