It was a stormy day in Rome and its only going to get worse the next 2 days..
Day 1 at Berry
Some fast times at Berry ran in ominous weather conditions. 1A Private Girls got the racing underway with Reagan Mahoney of AIS and Erin Fegans of Landmark facing off. Mahoney took the race out early w/ Fegans and Brooke Browning of Hebron getting towed behind her. Fegans took the lead on lap 3 and Mahoney was content to draft off her. Fegans began to slowly pull away the 2nd mile, Mahoney made a mad dash on the last lap but ran out of gas with 50m left. Fegans took the win going 10:49, Mahoney was 2nd in 10:53, and Browning 3rd at 11:30
Zoe Sanchez from Union County is the 2A champ posting a winning time of 11:52. Austin Perez claimed the runnerup spot at 12:00, and Kayla Hutcherson from Armuchee claimed 3rd place going 12:26
Ellie Hall of Marietta claimed the 7A state title clocking a 10:40, Madelynne Cadeau of South Forsyth took runnerup honors at 10:45 and Sarah Burwell Walton seized 3rd place at 11:03
In the A Private boys 3200 Graham Blanks proved he is the man running away with the title posting a 9:13 Zack Truitt of Landmark Christian held on for 2nd place at 9:34 with Devin Wade of Whitefield taking 3rd at 9:38
Bleckley's boys picked up 15 points in the 3200m in a duel, behind Garrett Rogers win going 9:51 with Griffin Stephens of Banks County pushing to a 9:53 Luke Gambrell from Union County posted a 10:21 for 3rd and Jaylen Thigpen from Bleckley raced to 4th in 10:27
The 7A 3200 was a terrific race between the top 4 finishers. Calan Gizelbach of Forsyth Central pulled off an upset clocking a 9:13.89, Myles Collins of Archer was runnerup in 9:15.60, Kamari Miller from Marietta was 3rd at 9:15.99 and Chase Condra of Peachtree Ridge 4th posting a 9:18.98
