AA State Meet Preview

100m- Big race for the Royals as Nykeem Barrow from Bleckley County is a threat to double in the short sprints. he has a pr of 10.62 in the 100. Looking to challenge are Zabrion Whatley of Rockmart, Bryce Bailey of Bleckley was 2nd best at Sectionals at 10.76, and Artis Kingsberry from Swainsboro could make it a race. 

200m- This should be a very exciting race between Farrow of Bleckley (21.83) and Kingsberry from Swainsboro (21.86) 

400m- Only 2 athletes in AA have went sub :50 this season.. Sammy Morrow of Thomasville has the best time at 49.27 and Daimar Ivey of Temple HS has a pr of 49.96

800m- No one in 2A eclipsed sub 2:00 in the 800m this Spring making this a wide open race. Wes Ledford from Banks County is the top qualifier having a recent pr of 2:02.95, Jamie Townes of Westside Augusta, Jimmie Pierre of Douglass and Hunter Hartzog of Union County will be vying for a Gold medal. 

1600m- Big points on the line for Bleckley with Garrett Roger having the top pr at 4:29. Guy Gober of Rabun County has experience, Griffin Stephens of Banks County should be a factor in the race at 4:38 and Jaylen Thigpen from Bleckley will seek to make it a 'Royals flush'

3200m- Griffin Stephens from Banks County is the sole runner in 2A that has gone sub 10: with a pr of 9:55. A host of runners will be in pursuit including defending champ Guy Gober of Rabun County, Rogers of Bleckley County and Luke Gambrell from Union County. 

110h- Zoryan Hendricks from Rockmart has the top pr coming into State at 14.07  5 other athletes have went sub :15 and get a good view of his backside. 

300h- Tiavonn Redfield of Josey HS had a breakout race at Sectionals taking over the top spot at 38.76  This could inspire Hendricks from Rockmart to push even harder at 39.17  Others with sub :40 performances are Camron Miles of Pepperell and Mitchell Marcuz from Bremen. 

4x100- Not known for their speed, Bleckley definitely has it in spades now with a school record of 41.82  Rockmart is speedy as well with a swift time coming in of 41.97

4x400- It should be a great 4x400 race coming down to the wire to close out the 2A Boys meet. Frederick Douglass sports the fastest pr at 3:26, KIPP will challenge as well as Bleckley seeking to end the meet on a very high note and a solid Banks County squad who looked strong at Region.

HJ- 2 athletes have cleared 6-8 in AA this season, including Emmanuel Mann of Jordan (Columbus), and Deandre Pitts from Bleckley County. Keundre Mobley of Douglass HS could raise his game and challenge w/ a pr of 6-6 this season. 

LJ- Big event for Elbert County as Metrius Fleming has the top mark coming in at 23-8 from Sectionals. Challengers should be Cedric King from Jeff Davis, Demarcus Griffin of NE Macon and Malyk Walker from WACO (Washington County) 

TJ- Zoryan Hendricks of Rockmart blasted out a mark of 46-11 at Sectionals.  Contenders for medals are Lazerionta Taylor of WACO, William Page from Vidalia, and oh yeah, Metrius Fleming of Elbert County. 3 other jumpers have pr's of 45+..

PV- 5 vaulters have bars this season of 12-6+.. Coming in with the top bar is Mitchell Marcuz from Bremen at 13-6. Pushing will be Bailey Scarborough of Heard County, Caden Maxwell from Bleckley and Sean Hall from Banks County. 

Discus- Caleb Hartley from Toombs County led the rankings in the discus this Spring with a toss of 176-10  Jackson Ramey of Banks has a pr of 156-11 and Jaylen Clements from Vidalia has a pr of 151-01

Shot- It looks like a duel coming in between  Zaylin Wood from Heard County at 57-2 and Hartley from Toombs County with a mark of 55-6, 3 other throwers have went 50+ in 2A. 

100m- Niakoe Burkes of Callaway posted the fastest time of 2019 in 2A at 12.21  Keiana Littleton from Jeff Davis was tops at Sectionals in 12.24  Don't count out Emerson Brown of Elbert County as she went 12.34 at Region and Shania Brinson of Glenn Hills also boasts a 12.34

200m- Mecca Jackson for WACO is the woman to beat on the 200 having a pr of 24.75  Littleton from Jeff Davis will challenge along with Brinson of Glenn Hills and Brown from Elbert County. 

400m- Jackson from WACO also has the top time in the 400 coming in at 59.02  Expect Tykeya Gray from Elbert and Ella Stoudenmire from Oglethorpe County to contend for a Gold medal. 

800m- Kennedee Williams from East Laurens is the defending champ with a sb of 2:25. No one else is close. Its a big race for Oglethorpe County with Katie Wadsworth having gone 2:29 and Ella Stoudenmire 2:32  Laura Kate Cole of Model should be mixing it up for a a top medal as well. 

1600m- The top 2 contenders in this event faced off at Sectionals and are well aqquainted with each other. Rebecca Chandler from Berrien County owns the fastest time at 5:18, with Austin Perez from Bleckley at 5:29  Zoe Sanchez of Union County could be a factor along with Emily Youngblood from Bleckley. 

3200m- Bleckley County has the the chops to sweep the top 2 places in the 3200 behind Austin Perez (11:580 and Christa Hall at 12:04  Zoe Sanchez from Union County could push them both.

110h- Ikeria Hamilton from East Laurens should cruise in this event with a pr of 15.20  Hoping for a miscue could be Kendriana McDuffie from Jeff Davis and Maureen Sutphin of Harlem HS.  

300h- McDuffie fro Jeff Davis could make it a sweep of the hurdles with a sb of 47.22 in this event. Hoping to beat her will be Brianna McRae of Dublin HS and Shakiera Woods of KIPP. 

4x100- KIPP comes in with the fastest time in 2A at 49.37, but even money goes to title contender Elbert County at 49.40  Callaway HS has a pr of 49.43  

4x400- This is not one of the strongest events for 2A girls with so few athletes to draw from their respective schools. Should be an exciting race between East Laurens (4:11.62), Oglethorpe County, Jeff Davis and WACO. 

HJ- Megan Kent from Model is a big favorite having a bar of 5-6 this Spring. 9 other girls have cleared 5-2 making it another battle of attrition and not having misses at each height. 

LJ- Only 2 athletes have marks of 18+ in 2A this Spring. Divoria Gafney from Toombs County HS at 18-0.50 and  Niakoe Burkes from Callaway HS. Myesha Hall from Vidalia and Divoria Gafney from Toombs should contend. 

TJ- Ikeria Hamilton from East Laurens easblished herself as the woman to beat in the TJ with a big pr from Sectionals of 38-11.75  Myesha Hall from Vidalia will try to push her. 

PV- Ellie Getchell of Model has the top bar in 2A this season at 11-1. Brooklyn Kierbow from Bremen is her chief competitor having a pr of 10-0

Discus- This is a big event for Elbert County in the scheme of a state title. Shakira Ardister is a heavy fave to take the Gold with a pr of 134-6. Everyone else in the field will be throwing for 2nd. 

Shot- Ardister will be seeking to win the Shot and double for her school having a pr of 41-4.25  Nikeria Albritton of NE Macon has a recent of 39-01 and Sinclaire Fryer of Laney comes in with a best mark of 38-0.50
