Meet Preview of the Chick Fil-A Invitational

The Annual "Southside Chick Fil A" Invitational is on its third location over the years but the quality has not diminished one bit. This meet has grown into a premier South Metro meet hosted by Eagle's Landing Christian Academy. Because of stadium renovations the meet has been at Eagle's Landing High School for two years. Now that stadium is being renovated so Union Grove, on their brand new track, is keeping the meet going. 36 schools are entered and a number of events should be hotly contested.

 

Girls sprints/hurdles

One of many loaded event groups. Jazmine Hobson of Shiloh is the favorite in both the 100 and 200 but she will be pushed by  Kyleeyah Whitehead of Archer, Jasmine Logan of Eagle's Landing HS and Shaianne Sipsey of Veterans.

The girls 400 is loaded with a number of sub 57 seeds. These include Ilene Soleyne of Chapel Hill and Raven Thurmon of SW Dekalb.

Darci Khan of Stockbridge leads the way in both hurdle events.

 

Boys sprints/hurdles

In the boys 100m dash it may take sub 11 just to score. Jaylen Slade of Chapel Hill leads the way but will be challenged by Dantarius Chunn of East Coweta and Devin Brewington of SW Dekalb.

In the 200, Kareem Agostino has the top seed time but Brewington  and Mike Wright of Woodward Academy will challenge.

With 5 seeds in the 48's the boys 400 should be a hotly contested event. Shawn Langley of Chapel Hill, Carey Brayden of East Coweta, Elijah Berry of Shiloh, Alphonzo Overstreet of Woodward and Evan Jackson of Eagle's Landing HS will all compete for the 400m title.

The boys 110m hurdles should produce some very fast times. Carl Stephens of Stockbridge and Allan Mbah of Lovejoy both are seeded sup 14.35. They should be challenged by Gary Savage of Carrollton, Ahumad Williams of East Coweta and Sam Smith of Union Grove.

The top seed in the 300m hurdles is Antaures Jackson. Stephens, Allan, Smith and Farron Edmonds of Woodward should challenge.

 

Girls Distance

Naima Turbes of Westminster is entered in both the 800 and 1600. She is the heavy favorite. Hoping to push her are Ilene Soleyn of Chapel Hill in the 800 and Mackenzie Walls of Veterans in the 1600.

Walls will come back in the 3200 but the top seed in this event is Katherine Vuckovic of Westminster.

 

Boys Distance

Kyle Harkebus of East Coweta is favored in the 800 and 1600. Challenging him in a very competitive 800 are Harrison Fultz of Starr's Mill, Elijah Berry of Shiloh and Dom Macias of Union Grove. Harkebus' top challengers in the 1600 are Myle Collins of Archer, Macias and Calan Gizelbach of Westminster.

The Westmister duo of Will Wallace and Zachary Roe are the favorites in the 3200. The challengers are Samuel Garringer of Hart County and Leroy Russell of Eagle's Landing High School

 

Girls Relays

In the 4 x 100m relay the Stockbridge girls are the heavy favorites. Chapel Hill, Starr's Mill, Eagle's Landing High School and Shiloh hope to challenge.'

Starr's Mill and SW Dekalb should battle for the top spot in the 4 x 400m relay.

 

Boys Relays

A lot of teams are seeded in the low to mid 42's. Those contending include Shiloh, SW Dekalb, Chapel Hill, Alpharetta Stockbridge, Cedar Grove and Eagle's Landing High School.

The 4 x 400m relay should produce some very fast times. Shiloh and SW Dekalb have already posted 3:18's but should be pushed by Eagle's Landing High School, Chapel Hill, Alpharetta and Starr's Mill.

 

Girls Field Events

Jada Blanton of Luella and Mynaisha Mitchell of Cedar Grove should duel in the high jump.

Erica O'neal of Shiloh, Savannah Simms of Woodward and LaDaijahnae of Archer are the favorites in the triple jump. The girls long jump should be won by one of the following group - Taijiah Gary of Woodward, Whitehead of Archer, Laney Kronz of Forsyth Centra or O'neal of Shiloh.

Kamaria Horon of Eagle's Landing has the top discus throw in AAAAA but fellow 5AAAAA Kaitlyn Gott should be her top challenger. London  Fowler of East Coweta, Isis Taylor of Chapel Hill, Horton and Mykhayla Carroll of Archer will be the top contenders in the shot put.

Julia Colson of Starr's Mill should be the top competitor in the pole vault. 

 

Boys Field events

With a  PR of 6'8" Sulton Simms of Woodward is the favorite. His top competitor is Brayden Carey of East Coweta

Carey is a top seed in the long jump and will be challenged by Tommy Wright of SW Dekalb and Christopher Pitt of East Coweta.

Jaylen Slade of Chapel Hill and Elijuan Singleton of Glynn Academy look to be the favorites in the triple jump.

The boys discus should be hotly contested by Zaire Flournoy of Chapel Hill, Jase Hunter of Eagle's Landing High School, Christopher Moore of East Coweta, Jake Musselwhite of Carrollton and Kaleb Valliere of Ola.

Isaac Dowling of Shiloh and Marlone Taylor of Glynn Academy are both 50 foot shot putters and should challenge for the win.

Grant Briscoe has cleared 15' in the pole vault while Hunter Cagle of Forsyth Central has cleared 14'. Both should contend for first place.

 

Team scores

The girls team champ should come from a group that includes Starr's Mill, Chapel Hill, Westminster and Stockbridge.

Chapel Hill, SW Dekalb, Shiloh and Stockbridge will be among the teams contending for the boys championship.
