Athlete Spotlight- Davis Siblings, High in the Mountains at Tallulah Falls are Track Stars

James Davis, senior and Captain is a hurdler, pole vaulter, long jumper, relay leader, and 400m runner at Tallulah Falls School, a Class A-Private school nestled in the far northeast corner of Georgia.  Younger sister and sophomore Anna, also hurdles, jumps, vaults, runs the 400m, and leads the relay teams.  Both are highly ranked in their events.  Both learn from each other daily in practice and at meets.  Both are A students, are also involved in clubs and other activities at school, and have a life outside of school and track & field.  Both truly care about their teammates and actually

James was the 2015 Georgia Olympics all classification top performer in the pole vault (15' 1) and field event top performer.  He also competed in both hurdles and both relays.  He signed his national letter of intent to compete at Davidson College.  His journey, though, is not all success.  He has overcome plenty of failures.  According to his appropriate expectations, he failed at state as a freshman and sophomore in the vault.  He compete well (15' 0) at the Great Southwest Classic in New Mexico last summer, holds numerous outdoor and indoor school records, and has earned various accolades.  However, James lives a real life.  He currently is struggling to get on a new pole after his previous pole broke, so he's like other athletes who strive valiantly to succeed but face various adversities along the way.

Anna has blossomed this year, mostly because her desire to succeed has matched an intelligent work ethic.  Highly involved in every practice, she seeks to improve, not just do a drill or run an interval.  She seeks to own every aspect of her training and detests doing less than her best.  This process has become fun, especially now realizing that there are many minor, yet significant ways to improve.  Competition brings out the best in Anna, so she sets her sights quite high while having a mature perspective about the end product.
