5A-6A Boys
The races other than 'Championship' were still full of 'racing' as athletes were gunning for prs on fast 'Fox Hall'. Some teams had opportunities to look good and perhaps stir the rankings up...but Individuals grabbed the spotlite including 5A-6A Overall winner Ermais Tewolde of Druid Hills who clocked a 15:56 just holding off Derick Kenyanjui from Hiram at 15:58. Bjron Leicher of Cambridge was 3rd in 16:22, Miller Kettle of GAC went 16:25 and also from Cambridge, KJ Hirschi posted a 16:38. North Paulding was the top team, followed by Apollo and Winder-Barrow.
5A-6A Girls
Northgate seemed to be at full strength this week as they won the team title led by a tight knit pack placing 12th-14th including Caitlyn Bellora, Caroline Nelson and Erica Lee. Irmo (SC) was 2nd as a team followed by North Paulding, Cambridge and Winder-Barrow. McKenzie Knudson from Archer HS was the overall champ going sub 19: posting a 18:55. Micah Weathers from Winder-Barrow charged to 2nd place in 19:06, Morgan Bridges from Irmo (SC) placed 3rd in 19:13 and a pair of Norcross girls followed her including Gabrielle Gusmoratti (19:29) and Maggie O'Leary (19:38)
1A-4A Boys
3A Oconee County decided to race in the 'small school' event and came out on top teamwise scoring 34 points besting 4A Sandy Creek by 20. Michael Hans led the Warriors taking 1st Overall in 16:10 and teammate Issac Krumm placed 3rd in 16:42. Conner Dial led Sandy Creek's 2nd place effort placing 4th in 16:58.Landmark Christian only had 5 runners start? (like back in the day) but ran well enough to take 3rd edging Siegel (TN) George Litchfield of Walker rounded out the top 5 at 17:03.
1A-4A Girls
In a surprising twist...Emma Grace Hurley may have been looking for a race with Landmark's Kathryn Foreman (who didn't run) and ran all alone smoking Fox Hall in 17:33. Sarah Foreman cruised to 2nd in 19:56, followed by Galloway's Caroline Henry (20:26), Mary Kellison Thorne (20:39) North Oconee opted to compete in the small school race and took advantage scoring 44 points for the team honors led by Sophie Brown (20:43) and Amy Stanaland (20:44) Landmark was 2nd in the 1A-4A team standings 8 points ahead of 4th ranked 3A Oconee County.
