There's a new sheriff in town for A Private and Helen Williams exuded confidence at the start taking off early and shrugging off early challenges by Sarah Foreman of Landmark, Stephanie Ward of Darlington and Emma Grace Hurley enroute to sweeping the A Private distance races AND erased the long standing GHSA State Meet record in the event (1992?) going 5:00.47, also earning the 1600m Best Performance of the Meet. Foreman had fallen a litte of the pace , but recharged the final lap overtaking Ward meters before the finish line placing 2nd in 5:05. Hurley took 4th in 5:12.
