Landmark Christian's Kathryn Foreman Qualifies for Foot Locker Nationals
Foreman is the first Georgian to qualify since Grace Tinkey did it 2 years in a row back in 2010 and 2011 (injured in 2012) Kathryn spoke about her race, "Footlocker is always nerve wracking, but exciting! This year my strategy was just to go out controlled and then move up slowly throughout the race, my goal was to be like top 8 by the second mile, then either hold my place or continue to move up. Then I hit the mile split and I was 20th. I tried not to freak out, passed a couple girls on the hill, then at the two mile, I was top 15, still not near my goal, just held on and passed a couple people in the woods in the back. Came out of the woods in 11th, then I told myself that I could hurt that much more, and passed a group of three girls, probably the quickest finish i've ever had since four of us were within two seconds of each other, none of us wanting that 11th place finish. Praise God, He helped me through, and now I'm really excited about being able to compete at nationals in San Diego!
We will ask Kathryn to blog about her trip and Foot Locker National experience on Ga.MileSplit. Good Luck to Kathryn at Balboa Park!
