Region 7-AAA ReCap
North Hall ripped a 16:23 team average, putting 6 runners (Schuebert, Hill, Teasley, Chapman, Pless) in the top 8 by the 16:48 mark. The Trojans look to be a strong 2nd in AAA, but will be nipping at the heels of St. Pius X in Carrollton. Quintin Miles won the race in 15:55, outlasting a hard running Dylan Forester of Dawson in 15:56. Buford's boys took the runner up spot, posting a 17:31 average, and Dawson County (17:54) and White County (18:10) also qualified for state.
White County's girls took the title with a 20:25 team average, putting 3 in the top 7 in a competitive girls race. Jenna Gearing broke her own Unicoi course record in 18:22 and is peaking well heading into Carrollton next week. Buford (2nd place, 49 pts) and North Hall (3rd place, 52 pts) were neck and neck again and will go at it once more for state positioning next Saturday. Dawson's girls also qualified for state.
Individually on the boys side, the only 'non NH runners' in the top 10 were Dawson's Dylan Forester, Buford's Josh Thompson (16:38), White's Austin Thompson (16:54), and Banks' Jose Diaz (17:01).
After Gearing, Makayla Hewell of Banks (the only 7AAA individual to qualify without her team) ran a great race in 19:44, followed by Makayla Ellis of North Hall in 19:53. Kristen Mitchell of White (20:20), Bailey Roberts of Buford (20:32), Erin Marsh of Buford (20:33), and Kaitlyn Gearing of White (20:48) rounded out the top 7.
As usual, expect 7AAA to be in the mix in Carrollton next Saturday.
