 Showdown in Area 2 Private Meet Between ACS, Lakeview Boys. Tuttle, Providence Tune Up for State

Wow...is 1A Private state now up for grabs...  ACS outlasted a game Lakeview squad winning on a 6th runner tiebreaker as their depth was the key to victory. Lakeview put 3 runners in the top 4 including twins, Dalton and Dustin Snyder, taking the top 2 spots in 16:52/16:57. Adam Hearn of Athens Academy was 3rd overall in 17:12. But, the Golden Eagles were deep enough behind team leaders Morgan Bishoff and Jay Acker to tie Lakeview at 55, and ACS's #6 came in far ahead of Lakeview's mirror (military term) Athens Academy and Hebron Christian q'd for state as teams. 
 
 
Girls
 
 
Providence Christian girls ran tough easily winning the team crown led by Tayler Tuttle (pictured above) as she was incredible posting a 18:44 on the tougher, revamped ACS course putting top ranked Darlington on alert. Emily Swanigan of Providence placed 2nd in 20:17, followed by Gabby Cortese led ACS to a 3rd place team finish in 20:33. Hebron Christian was 2nd in the team race led by Samantha Heflin in 8th overall. Athens Academy was the final team qualifier. Earning a berth to State without their teams were GWA's Dilys Osei, Jessica Zalzman of Pinecrest (who appeared to be nursing an injury after the race, and Prince Avenue's Abby Hathaway. 
 
Area 4 Public
 
 
Georgia Military dominated the boys race scoring 56 points paced by overall runnerup senior Will Archer in 17:42. Dylan Smith from Gordon Lee HS (above) made the long trip cross-state worth it winning the overall title in 17:33 leading his squad to a state berth. Commerce placed 2nd as a team and Towns County boys will also make the trek to Carrollton.  
 
 
Trion's girls upheld their top ranking winning the Area 4 Public title taking the 3-5 spots led by senior Crystal Lee in 24:04. Ansley Vardeman of Towns County (above) won the overall race in 23:21 leading her squad to a 2nd place team finish. Sarah Meadows of Gordon Lee was 2nd overall sparking her squad to a state berth. Commerce came in 4th earning a trip to State.
