                                  Oglethorpe County Patriot Races Summary

In what most teams use as a Region tune up or a replacement for Coach Wood, the Oglethorpe County Patriot Races saw some soggy competition among 14 Athens area schools. The Oglethorpe course ran slightly slower than usual due to the weather, but several runners still had PRs for the day.

The battle for the Varsity girls race was very tight with region rivals Hebron Christian (74 points) and Athens Christian (76 points) duking it out. Loganville (70 points)came out on top though in a tight race. Audrey Honiotes of Hart County continued her winning streak scorching the course in 19:15, over a minute ahead of the second place finisher Sarah Beth English from Chestatee.

In the Varsity boys race, Athens Christian dominated with their top 5 all placing in the top 15. Chestatee was the team runner up led by the individual winner Jack Carnes in 16:57 who was followed closely by Hebron Christian’s Colson Hagan (16:58) as the only two who ran sub 17 on the evening. Other interesting finishes included the race in 8-AAA as Hart County and Morgan County will have a tight race on their hands to qualify for State in a tough region.
