Kendell Williams is named the 2012-13 Gatorade National Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year

2012-13 Gatorade National Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year

  Led her team to a second place finish at the Class 5A state meet, while winning the 100-meter hurdles, the high jump and the long jump

·Won the 100-meter hurdles in a state-record time of 13.23 seconds

·Owns the No. 1 time in the U.S. in the 100-meter hurdles, while holding the No. 2 spot in the long jump and No. 27 spot in the high jump

·Maintains a 3.53 GPA in the classroom

·Was honored with the Kell High 2013 Community Service Award for work volunteering as part of Kell’s Angels service club in addition to other work in the community

·Committed to run track & field on an athletic scholarship at the University of Georgia

Williams, a native of Marietta, is coming off a performance last week where she scored 5,481 points to win the Heptathlon at the USA Junior Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. This assured her a spot on Team USA for the Pan Am Junior Athletic Championships from Aug. 23-25 in Medellin, Columbia.
