Distance Finals- Thursday will be a rewind of the Area 3 meet as Helen Williams of AIS is favored after her sizzling 10:49 besting the Landmark power duo of Nicole Fegans at 11:06 and Foot Locker finalist Sarah Foreman (11:07) Look for Shannon Fair of Aquinas to tag along as she's pr'd at 11:11 in Mobile. Emma Grace Hurley of FCA has a pr of 11:14 and could challenge for 2nd. Gabby Cortese of ACS may try to maintain contact with that group (11:35) or be on an island.
Friday morning the A athletes will hit the infield and here is where the table will get set for many teams. Anna Machovec is the prohibitive favorite to sweep the Throws and her HS career on the right note. Abigail Rogers of ELCA may push her in the Shot, and Julia Harisay of Athens Academy bested Machovec in the Discus at the Area 2 meet. Carson Dingler is one of the top Vaulters in the USA having cleared 13-0, but its going to be a battle royale for points as 4 other athletes have bars of at least 8-6 to 9-0. 5 Girls have cleared 5-2 in the HJ including A Prvt leader Summer Hendley of Savannah Christian at 5-3 (pr) the LJ competition may bring A Prvt's first 17-0 mark as 5 girls have prs in the vicinity. The TJ will feature T'aja Cameron of ELCA and Collier Middleton of Walker (both having 36'+ marks.
ELCA had the fleetest Relay squads this Spring and this could be the key for attaining a state title by sweeping both events. However, they will get pushed in the 4x400 by all the usual suspects including contenders Pace, ACS, Landmark, OLM.
Top individuals on the track for A Prvt Saturday 'Finals' will be T'aja Cameron of ELCA (100/200), Chelsea Zoller of Holy Innocents (200/400), Jade Davis of St.Francis (400/800), Stephanie Ward of Darlington (800), Top contenders in the 100h are Randi Bohler of HIES and Middleton of Walker. A trio of athletes can win the 300h including Rachel Morley of Landmark, and Pace teamates Lauren Hadley & Sophie Blasberg.
