CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP MEET INFORMATION

What we need from you now:

 

*Please enter your team for the Region 5AAA meet through gamilesplit.com.  Go to the calendar, scroll down, click on our meet, and click on "enter meet". We need your entries by Friday, Oct. 22 by midnight at the latest. You will enter your entire team; therefore, it is not necessary to enter them into specific races.

Enter your complete roster (Varsity runners-top 7 and JV runners).  All runners will be assigned a number and may run in either the Varsity or JV race.

GHSA:

 

In addition to entering your team on gamilesplit.com, please enter your team on the GHSA MIS site. The list to GHSA should include up to 12 runners and is due Friday, Oct. 22. You may make changes up until Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 3:00 pm.

 

Race Times:  Races will begin on time.  Please have your athletes at the start line 10 minutes prior to race time.

 

Boys Varsity (7 runners) - 4:00 pm

Girls Varsity (7 runners) - 4:30 pm

Boys JV (unlimited) - 5:00 pm

Girls JV (unlimited) - 5:30 pm

Traffic flow/bus drop-off/parking:  The front gate located at, 1424 W. Paces Ferry Rd, Atlanta, GA 30327, will be open.

 

Large school buses and minibuses:  Direct your bus driver to enter from the front gate.  Parking will be available at the front tennis courts and on the side of the road at the entrance.  Security will be available to direct you as you enter campus.

  • Please let us know what type of bus or buses you will be bringing and approximately what time you plan to arrive on campus.

 

Packet Pick-up: Please report to the finish line to pick up your race packet.  It will contain a copy of your roster, race numbers, pins, and chips.

 

Tent Set-up:  All tents should be set-up on the softball field located next to Turner Gym.

 

Concessions/Restrooms:  The concession stand (behind the home football bleachers) will be open, as will the restrooms.  Please ask your athletes to utilize the restrooms in the concession stand and avoid the gym. 

 

Athletic Training Certified Athletic Trainers will be available on site as well as EMS.

 

Fluids:  Teams are responsible for bringing their own fluids. 

 

Coaches meeting A brief coaches meeting will be held at 3:30 pm in the area by the finish line.

 

Races:  Race numbers and chips will be worn in ALL RACES (confirm that each runner is wearing their correct number and chip); ensure that numbers are pinned to the front of the singlet and are clearly visible and that chips are secured.  Runners must remove chip themselves before leaving the finish chute area and place them in the bucket.  A chip fee of $30 will be charged for unreturned chips.

 

Reminders:  Runners may wear watches; however, the use of wristwatches with GPS capability is illegal.  The penalty for this violation is DISQUALIFICATION.  Hats and gloves are legal, and they DO NOT have to be of the same color and/or type. 

 

Course and Starting Blocks A map of the course is attached.  Please review it carefully with your athletes prior to the meet. Starting block assignments will be determined by draw for the varsity races at the coaches meeting. There are no starting blocks for the JV races.  Runners may line up anywhere along the starting line.

Results/Awards:  Awards will begin at approximately 6:10 pm.  Please usher athletes and fans to the bleachers at this time.  Official results will be emailed to all coaches and posted on www.gamilesplit.com.

 

In the Varsity Championship Race, medals will be given to the top 10 individual finishers, and team trophies to the top two teams. In the JV Race, the top ten will receive ribbons.

 

Clean up: Please encourage your athletes to help us by cleaning up any trash they might encounter!
