The Coaches & XC Booster Club of Milton High

School would like to invite you to attend the 8th Milton Cross Country

Invitational at their course on September 11, 2021. Milton has hosted the

Fulton County Public Schools XC Championships from 2012-2017 and our home

invitational for 7 years (2007-2011, 2018-19) and hope you still plan to

attend.

The meet will again include two open races and

make the varsity races 10 runners per team and the JV races the next 15 runners

per team.

Tentative Meet Schedule:

Open Girls-7:45am-unlimited

Open Boys-8:30am-unlimited

JV Girls-9am-next 15 after varsity

JV Boys-9:45am-next 15 after varsity

V Girls-10:15am-top 10

V Boys-10:45am-top 10

Awards 11:15 AM (or as soon as possible)

PARKING: PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS OF PARKING

VOLUNTEERS!

SPECTATORS: please use the Birmingham Hwy

entrance and park at the Milton HS main lots or at the adjacent Northwestern MS

parking lots. There is no access to the start line area for private cars or any

unloading by spectators!! Please see the posted course map!!

COACHES - Have buses utilize the Freemanville Rd

entrance as this will facilitate more efficient bus unloading at the course

start line area. We request spectators to enter the school property from

Birmingham Road and park at the main school lots to avoid congestion for buses

near the start area.

SCHOOL BUSES ONLY will be able to stop and

unload on School Rd nearest the Freemanville/East entrance to the school at the

course start area and then be directed to park in the bus loading zone adjacent

to Milton HS or at the football stadium. BUSES MUST ENTER FROM FREEMANVILLE ROAD (NOT BIRMINGHAM HIGHWAY)

OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UNLOAD NEAR THE START LINE. Teams will need to walk

up to the school to load their buses once the meet/awards ceremony is over.

ADMISSION: There will be a $10 PARKING FEE per

car and it will be collected at 2 tables adjacent to the course start area. All

fees will go to the maintenance of the Milton HS cross country trail. Donations

will also be accepted!

The Milton XC course is self-maintained and

funded. NO financial support comes from Fulton County Schools!

TEAM TENT SET UP: All teams are requested to set up tents (camp)

in the area adjacent to the course, between School Rd. and the fenced-off

retention pond area (see the course map).

REGISTRATION: You can run up to 10 varsity

athletes for each boys and girls varsity race and you can decide on race day

which 10 athletes that will be from your complete roster of registered

athletes. You can run up to 15 in the JV races. All other athletes will run in

the Open races (no limit on the number of participants in the Open races).

Entry deadlines and changes to entries close on Sept 8th at 9pm. Get your

entries in!

COURSE (same course since 2007):

The course is three loops, approx. 5000m in length. First loop is 1000m,

followed by two loops of 2000m each. Each 1000m and each mile is marked with

permanent marker post on the right hand side of the course. The course is 99%

off-road with three road crossings of 10m each and four wooden bridge crossings

of 5m each. NOTE: the bridges may and are often slippery so please inform your

runners to be careful when running across the bridges!! The course consists of

grass, bark-chip, gravel, dirt and soft pine needle trails. A course map will

be in your race packet. It is very spectator-friendly, with viewing of the race

start, 1000m mark, two-mile split, 3000m mark and the finish from the main

field. Milton Cross Country will have padded mats over the road surface and on

both bridge crossings!!

AWARDS: ALL awards will be presented at the

awards ceremony at approx. 11:15am and will be as follows,

Open Races: Winning team will receive a trophy,

top-10 individuals will receive medals in the finish chute.

JV races: Top-3 teams will receive a trophy,

top-15 individuals will receive medals in the finish chute and the JV race

winner will also receive a trophy and be recognized at the awards ceremony.

Varsity races: Top-4 teams will receive a

trophy, top-20 will receive medals at the awards ceremony along with the top-3

individuals will receive a trophy.

THE EAGLE CUP: will be presented to (and the

winning school will get their name put on the trophy) the 1st place school with

scoring as follows in all 6 races, Open, JV and Varsity Boys & Girls, to

determine the awardee:

Open Races:

Team 1st place-2pts

Team 2nd place-1pt

JV Races:

Team 1st place-3pts

Team 2nd place-2pts

Team 3rd place-1pt

Varsity Races:

Team 1st place-5pts

Team 2nd place-3pts

Team 3rd place-2pts

Team 4th place-1pt

Eagle Cup Award Tie Breaking Procedure:

The tie breaking criteria for the Eagle Cup Award will be as follows and will

be used in the order listed:

1) Lowest total adjusted score in the 2 varsity

races

If still tied,

2) Lowest total adjusted score in the 2 JV races

If still tied,

4) Lowest total adjusted score in the 2 Open

races

If still tied,

5) Lowest total placement of each schools 6th

runner in each of the varsity races.

If still tied,

6) Lowest total placement of each schools 7th

runner in each of the varsity races.

If still tied,

7) Lowest total placement of each schools 6th

runner in each of the JV races.

If still tied,

8) Lowest total placement of each schools 7th

runner in each of the JV races.

9) Same criteria as number 5(five) listed above

except for the lowest total for the 6th runners in the Open races, and if still

tied,

10) same criteria as number 6(six) listed above

except for the lowest total for the 7th runners in the Open races. If one

school does not have a runner to counter the other schools runner, then they

lose this tiebreaker by default.

11) Heck, if its still tied after all that, well

flip a coin.

Packet pick up for schools, which will contain

bib numbers/chips and instructions, will be at the information tent adjacent to

the start line. That will begin at 6:45am. Extra safety pins and chip ties will

also be available at the information tent. ***NOTE: IF PAYING MEET ENTRY FEE

DAY OF THE MEET PLEASE INCLUDE A $25 LATE FEE***

Starting boxes will be pre-assigned and listed at the

information tent and on your coaches numbers packet and available at the DJ

tent as well. I will try & email them out to you or post on this web site

the nite before as well.

Rules: We will follow NFHS/GHSA rules for

uniforms, conduct, etc. We will be using USA Track and Field officials for

clerking, starting and umpiring on the course and to verify/backup results

tabulation.

Timing & Results: This will be a chip-timed

race by the Perfect Timing Group so make sure you inform all your athletes to

turn their chips BACK INTO THEIR TEAM COACHES at the end of the race & each school must then turn in chips to the timers at the finish or your school will be charged $25 for

each one not returned. ALL runners will be timed and scored so enter all of

your athletes in the meet. We will have extra zip-ties for timing chips to

attach to the runner's shoes and extra safety pins at the information tent available

to all teams.

Open races have no limit on participants.

Entry Fee: $350 per school. Make check payable

to Milton XC Booster Club. $10 per athlete if school has less than 30 total

individuals entered in the meet. ***NOTE: A $25 LATE FEE WILL BE ASSESSED IF

PAYING ENTRY FEE DAY OF THE MEET***

Please bring entry fee payment (ALONG WITH $25

LATE FEE) if you have not already paid before meet day. We will have a list of

schools that we have not received entry fees and expect payment & $25 LATE

FEE that morning. If your school is only bringing a partial team (just JV boys

as an example), contact Coach Andy Carr for fee to pay,

acarr@atlantatrackclub.org $10 per high school athlete up to 30 athletes per

team.
