Welcome to Track Chats 2012! We continue with monster putter Sarah Howard from Trinity Christian HS in Georgia. Sarah has a newly minted 51-11 PR in the Shot Put and it is only the beginning of the outdoor season. Watch out for Sarah as the season rolls on!
MileSplit - When & how did you get started in track & field
Sarah - My dad was a thrower in high school and college and got me started throwing when I was 11.
MileSplit - Person/people most influential to your success in track & field
Sarah - God and my parents have been the most influential in my success.
MileSplit - Your favorite track & field event(s)?
Sarah - Shot put and discus, but I enjoy watching all throwing events.
MileSplit - Your track & field event coach(es)?
Sarah - Chris Howard, my dad, is my coach.
MileSplit - Keys to your successful track & field training program?
Sarah - Having a great support group of my family and community helps me get through the rough practices in order to get better.
MileSplit - Your favorite track & field meet?
Sarah - The GISA state meet
MileSplit - Track & field athlete(s) you most enjoy competing against?
Sarah - I enjoy competing against the girls from the local schools and getting to know them watching them get better. But I like competing against anyone who really enjoys the competition and has fun with it.
MileSplit - Your greatest experience in track & field so far?
Sarah - Being able to compete twice on team USA.
MileSplit - Goals for the 2012 track & field season?
Sarah - For this season, I would like to stay consistent throughout the season and hopefully break my GISA state records.
MileSplit - Long-term goals in track & field?
Sarah - For long term, I would like to be competitive on the collegiate level and just see where it takes me from there.
