Georgia Athletes Rack Up National Elites at Clemson Indoor

 Athletes from the Metro area and beyond travelled to Clemson, SC this weekend and achieved 98 National Silver Elite standards dominating the competition. Kendall Williams of Kell HS stretched her legs out enroute to winning the HJ at 5-10.75 and hurdled away in the 55h to the win clocking a 7.93p and 7.90 (US #1 Time) in the finals. MLK's duo of Felicia Brown and Jada Martin set notice to their competition this coming Spring with their performances. Martin won both the 55m and 200m races with times of 7.06 and 24.39. Brown placed 2nd right behind her in the 200m at 24.64 and sailed away in the 400m clocking a very fast 55.63. Brianna Vaughn of Union Grove had 2 nice performances placing 2nd behind Martin in the 55m at 7.08 (7.06p) and placed 4th in the 200m at 25.21. Georgia girls took the top 7 postions in the 400m including Crystal Gray in 58.88 and Sonikqua Walters in 59.09. Having nice races also in the 55h were Shannen Rose-Forde in 8.08, Shanel Burr in 8.33, India Hammond in 8.35, Amber Lewis in 8.38 and Sydney Griffin in 8.40.

    In the Field Events Throw1deep dominated the Weight Throw led by the winning toss of 57-11 by Pope's Monica Phillips. Trinity Christian's Sarah Howard was unchallenged in the Shot taking first with a put of 46-10.75. Sydney Rodkey of North Oconee had the highest clearance for Georgia with a vault of 11-6.25 followed by Holly Ebbets from Lee County at 11-00.25.

     The boys from Georgia also threw up a number of National Elite Times/Marks including McEachern's Amba Etta-tawo as he won the 200m in 22.12 and placed 2nd in the 55m Finals with a time of 6.50. Michael Newton had oustanding races winning the 400m easily in 48.95 and took 2nd in the 200m in 22.24. Georgia dominated the High Hurdles led by Alan Frye of Campbell HS won the 55h in an impressive time of 7.53 just edging Devon Williams of Kell who placed 2nd in the 55h clocking a 7.55, Troy Howard of Redan in 3rd at 7.56 and Michael Smith of Track Phi Track placed 4th in 7.59. Jared Johnson of Sandy Creek represented T1deep well winning the Shot with an Elite mark of 54-01.50, Josh Whitener of North Paulding had a monster toss in the Weight Throw at 69-0. Zane Coburn of Grady HS burned up the track clocking a 8:57.84 in the 3000m.
