Mother Nature provides a challenge at Furman!

Mother Nature played havoc with this weekends races as teams from Georgia faced tough conditions at several large meets this weekend. At Furman, a muddy course provided quite a challenge for several of the states top teams competing against an elite field from multiple states. Throw in an SAT weekend and you had the makings of a real test for Georgia teams.

At Furman, the Collins Hill boys received a boost from the return of Nahan Frasier as they finished in front of Parkview high school to finish 4th this weekend, 24 points ahead of Parkview in fifth place. Michael Winston was Georgia\'s top performer in 16:29 while Frasier finished 9th in 16:51 as Georgia only placed two in the top 10. Mill Creek finished 10th, despite losing top runner Colin Conroy to dehydration during the course of the race. St. Pius finished 12th and Peachtree Ridge finished 15th in the 58 team field.

On the girls side, Jackie Drouin and Emily Reese went 1-2 in 18:50 and 19:02 to give Georgia the top two performers at the meet. Erin Guglielmo just finished out of the top 10 with a 12th place finish in 20:05. Georgia teams had a strong showing as 6 of the top 14 teams hailed from the state. Collins Hill led the way with a 3rd place finish, despite the absence of their number 3, Alexis Nichols. Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett finished a close 6th and 7th. While Parkview, Brookwood and Grayson finished 12th, 13th and 14th. Grayson sorely missed Abby Self who did not run and Parkview was without the services of top runner Sara Raiser.
