Ridge Invite Headlines a Huge Weekend of Racing

An exciting weekend is upon the GA HS Track and Field Community as nearly everyone will be on the Track and in the Field all the way down to Tifton. The 2010 Ridge Invitational hosted by Peachtree Ridge HS may be one of the most competitive meets held this weekend. Twenty teams are entered including top programs Brookwood, Alexander, Carrollton, Greater Atlanta Christian, Redan, Westlake and host Peachtree Ridge. Meet Director, Coach Tomy Sitton said, "We are looking forward to having some good weather and some good competition for our meet. There are going to be many events that will be incredible to watch!" GATFXC.COM will be onsite shooting stills and some Video in Suwanee.
A plethora of superb athletes will be on hand beginning with outstanding sprinters including Broderick Snoddy from Carrollton, Arthur McDowell of Westlake, Alycia Prior of Mt. Zion and Charisma Green of Redan. The Hurdles will be smokin' featuring Jonathan Jones of Carrollton, Edward Ponton of Westlake, Brian Holmes of Alexander and Jaron Roberson of McEachern. On the Girls side are Shani Chandler of Westlake, Tanisha Dyess and India Hammond of Redan along with Peachtree Ridge's Monique Pate and Amber Brock of McEachern. The Relays should provide some real exciting races with the likes of Westlake, Redan, Carrollton, Salem and company.
The distance races will showcase the talents of Chapel Hill duo Wade Voyles and Chance Eldridge along with a stable of fast Brookwood Broncs including Zack Robinson, Jackson Wearn and Michael Giuliano. There is talent in the Girls races as well beginning with Peachtree Ridge's Heather Morris, Donye' Coleman from Shiloh, Soyong Smith of Redan and GAC's Lauren Kester and Abigail Mistretta.
Down on the Field should be interesting with warmer temps and less wind expected than last weekend. In the horizontal jumps keep an eye out GAC's Jessica Tuggle, India Hammond of Redan, Bree Corbin of Ola, Aminah Blount of Westlake and Cedar Grove's Alexus Cobb. The Boys LJ will feature 22' jumpers Tyler Askew of Salem, Eugene Glenn of Shiloh and Carnell Boyd from Westlake. Taleem Hart and Camaray Rouse will look to sweep the TJ for the Carrollton Boys squad. Brookwood always has good Throwers and Emily Brewer will represent the Lady Broncs in the Disc and Shot against the Shiloh duo of Creann Perkins and Ruth Zavala, Tika Slay of Alexander and Pate of the Ridge. In the HJ stay focused on Corbin of Ola and Leanna Little from Shiloh in the Ladies event and the Men's competition will be fierce including DJ Mann of Carrollton, Lakendall Irby of Mt. Zion Jonesboro and Brookwood's Matt Caldwell. GAC again brings it in the Girls Pole Vault with Claire Goodson and Caroline Bond.

Some other great meets this weekend with strong fields are the Cobb EMC Invitational (formerly the Wolverine Inv.) at Woodstock HS, the Eagle Icebreaker hosted by Collins Hill, the Riverdale Relays held at Southern Crescent Stadium in Jonesboro and gatfxc.com will also be onsite at the Barberitos Classic at Oconee HS. Look for results this weekend!
