18:39 avg, 1st in 7A. Marietta remains on top as they continue to do Marietta things. This team is solid as a tock and looks borderline invincible in class 7A. But there are 1 or 2 contenders who could maybe top them in the all class rankings.

18:35 avg, 1st in 4A. Asics was easily the best race a Pace girls team has ever run. this team is on fire this year and really living up to the billing. They have front runners and as good of a 3-4-5 as anybody else in the field. Their one potential weakness is that they can't afford injuries. But either way this team is hungry to perform at a high level.

19:37 avg, 1st in 6A. Every year Marist girls are near the top of these rankings and this is no exception. They have more depth than almost any other team in the state and that has been showcased while they've been missing their top runner these last two races. Very few teams could survive without their #1, but the War Eagles are not missing any beats.
4
19:21 avg, 1st in 5A. Well this team was underrated by many. They came alive at wingfoot, albeit in the A race instead of the championship race. But then they put their best race together at Asics and absolutely shot up the rankings this week. They're the favorites to win in class 5A...for now. But there are at least two teams who will have something to say about that in November when all the chips are down.

19:22 avg, 2nd in 6A. Another week and another solid performance from the Pius ladies. They're solid performances get the job done for them week in and week out. But they'll haveto find a little bit more if they're going to contend for the win in class 6A. They've shown the ability to show up with their best at state before, so we will see if they're able to do that again this year.

20:01 avg, 2nd in 7A. Walton backed up their Cobb county performance at Wingfoot. They remain very strong and steady this year and look like a very solid bet for a podium spot. There's still a month to go, but these ladies appear to have very few weaknesses
7
19:51 avg, 2nd in 5A. McIntosh shot up the rankings thanks to a very strong performance at Wingfoot. They came back down to reality a little bit at Asics, but after wingfoot, we know they have it in them to make a run at the 5A state title. Everybody is chasing Northview, but McIntosh is definitely still in this thing
8
20:04 avg, 3rd in 6A. This was a tough team to rank because I would have thought their average at wingfoot would earn them a higher place. But that's how it goes when you've got big points from front runners. They may not do quite as well in giant races and might be a better team when they get to the 6A state meet next month. They're still a very solid program as usual
9
20:22 avg, 3rd in 7A. This was by far the hardest team to rank this week. You could make a case to move them as high as 4th, but you could also make a case to take them out of the top 10. I settled on 9th for now, but I do think their ceiling is much higher. If they can put it all together they're probably the only team who can give Marietta a run in class 7A. We will see what they've got down the stretch here. I'm not ready to give them a trophy at state yet, but I'm certainly not ready to write them off either.
10
12:25 avg, 1st in 1A division 1. And this is the other really hard team to rank. They ran their top runner at wingfoot, but otherwise have been very quiet. I'll keep them in the top 10 for now, but they'll have to back it up with big performances in the next couple of weeks in order to stay there.

Well this was a little easier to do than the boys. Not much change overall comparatively speaking. There are kind of 4 tiers of girls teams, but I will say it's hard to figure out where the cutoff between the 2nd and 3rd tier is at this point as there hasn't been much cross pollination of data in recent weeks. The first tier is only a few of the best teams in the state. But the 2nd tier is teams that are just short of them and could reach that level with a big race. I just can't tell if there are only a couple of teams in this tier or the rest of the top 10 or so. Then tier 3 is your likely podium finishers and tier 4 is the podium hopefuls. What's fun about the girls rankings is just how evenly distributed things seem to be in classes 5a, 6a, and 7a. It's a fun year on the girls side where so many teams are showing they can run with your normal perennial powers. It means the competition level is really stepping up and that's good for everybody.
