Georgia TF XC Coaching Collective launches to help coaches statewide

A new initiative is launching this week in an effort to help High School Track and Field and Cross Country coaches in the State of Georgia. Named the Georgia TF XC Coaching Collective, its goal is to help both new and veteran coaches find ways to coach more efficiently. The group is headed up by three veteran coaches: Andy Christie (Mill Creek), Chris Mayer (Lovett), and Nick Houstoulakis (Marietta). The website, georgiatfxccollective.com, features documents divided into 2 sections: Track and Field and Cross Country. The documents submitted by coaches around the state are on a variety of topics, such as grouping/pacing, hurdles, booster clubs, and many more. Each document includes the submitting coach's email address, in case coaches want to contact the coach for more information. While most of the documents are not focused on training, a few are, and the goal is to expand on that in the future. The Collective would love to have more submissions from coaches around the state! In particular, they need more documents for Sprints and Field Events, and from coaches outside the Metro area. The goal is for the website to feature documents from coaches in many different classifications and areas across the state, so that ALL areas and demographics are represented.
Also featured on the website are Track and Field/Cross Country resources that coaches could find useful, such as various books, podcasts, and websites. The Collective welcomes coaches to send in any additional resources that they have found helpful, and they will be added to the list!
Finally, the website will feature interviews with some of the coaches that have built the foundation for coaching excellence in the State. The first 2 interviews are with Jerry Arnold of Carrollton/Brookwood/Mill Creek, and Lee Gower of Walton/McEachern. The hope is that reading about their paths will inspire other coaches as they journey through their careers.
