Congratulations to the Carrollton boys on going the entire regular season as the #1 all-class ranked team in the state. While there have been quite a few close calls, when Carrollton has raced with their full varsity squad, they are undefeated against Georgia teams. Carrollton finished their regular season with a win at the Atlanta Classic. They ran a 16:34 1-5 average and won the race by 19 points. They will be running their region race at the McIntosh Nature Preserve. It will be interesting to see how their times will match up against the teams that ran at Coach Wood. Regardless, these boys are all in on winning the state championship on their home turf.

The Longhorns retain their spot as the second best team in the state. They did so in dramatic fashion with a VERY close victory at the Coach Wood Invitational against the talented Westminster squad. Even in spite of a few of the boys falling early on in the race and getting scraped, that did not deter the Longhorns as they regained focus and got the victory. They will be competing in what is probably the deepest region in the state.

Westminster was so close to getting that victory at the Coach Wood Invitational. A mere four points was all that seperated them from Lambert High School. It should be noted that Westminster did have the best 1-3 in that race with a score of 37 points vs. Lambert's 1-3 who recorded 48 points. They might have the best 1-3 in the state. It would be a close battle between them and Carrollton. Rouding out the top five was Willem "Way Too Fast" Mandel and Tyler Robinson who both achieved personal records. The Wildcats had the best 1-5 average of any team in the field with a very impressive 16:00.32.

The Greyhounds competed well against #1 all-class Carrollton at the Atlanta Classic. They were within 19 points of Carrollton and ran a 16:47 1-5 average. They also had a 51 second 1-5 split. 1-4 was actually within 28 seconds of each other. Having a good "pack mentality" is always beneficial; however, the Greyhounds will have to make sure all 1-5 run well if they are going to win the state in 6A.

After a four week hiatus, the Decatur Bulldogs have now returned to the top 10 all-class rankings. Their 3rd place finish at Coach Wood helped ensure that they secured their spot. They also competed at the Atlanta Classic; however, they did not run their full varsity squad at the event. An issue with getting a gague of where to rank Decatur, is that the team has expereienced varsity squad absences in quite a few of their races this season. Regardless, with a full varsity squad, this team is legit. Also, they have a quick 1-3 average of 15:52 at Coach Wood. This team stated they are very focused on track season and to watch out for their 4x800 and 4x1600 squads.

The Broncos earned a 4th place finish at Coach Wood. They ran a 16:19.09 1-5 average. 1:01.21 is probably the farthest 1-5 spread they have seen all season. They will be running their region meet at the Geoergia International Horse Park where they ran very well earlier this season to win the county meet.

West Forsyth got a nice win at the Pickens and Grinnin' Invitational on Friday. This was by far their best performance of the season and they have been looming in the "Honorable Mention" list quite some time. Their 16:30 average on this course is quick. Keep in mind, Carrollton ran a 16:39 1-5 average on the same course to open their season. They will also be competing at the highly competitive 7A - Region 6, in oreder to earn a trip to the state meet.

All of those "USA! USA! USA!" chants really got the Panthers pumped up as they have once again earned a spot in the top ten all-class rankings. They achieved a 5th place finish at the Coach Wood Invitational with a quick 16:26.33 average. Oh by the way, 32.35 1-5 spread. Now that is very impressive. Westminster will have some competion with this team in the mix at the 4A state championship.

Marietta experiences a slight drop in the rankings after their 6th place finish at Coach Wood. They did run a fast 16:24.10 1-5 average. Most years, this is a team to keep eyes on in November. They will be competing in a competitve 7A - Region 3 meet. We will see what Coach Coleman and his boys have up their sleeves as the state meet approaches.

Harrison boys have found their groove. This team has been featured in the "Honorable Mentions" list a few times this season, and they finally got their breakout performance at Coach Wood where they placed 7th and ran a 16:28.94 average. They were one point off of Cobb County rival Marietta. They will be facing off against them again at regions on Saturday. Also, this is a young team. They have two freshmen in their top five and three in their top seven. Coach Scott should be excited about the future.
