2021 Outdoor Track: 4A Boys Pre-Season Team Power Rankings

4A Boys Individual Rankings Through 2/24

With outdoor track and field meets being contested this week in some cold rainy weather.  It's time to take a look at some 5A boys team "power rankings' by class. Being that COVID-19 derailed the 2020 season effective on 3/13/20, undoubtedly times and marks for probably across the board would be significantly better, to say the least. But, it's somewhere to get us started taking a look at which teams did have some individuals performing well the first month of last season. One disclaimer, relays cannot take into account what members of them graduated. However, being that the 4x800 will be scored at State in May it will be included as part of the equation. One big rule change for 2021 is the number of events an athlete may compete in and in the post-season only one relay team is allowed per event. This could possibly factor in with teams having athletes that are talented in three individual running events... Two squads look loaded on paper including perennial challengers Marist and North Oconee. Marist is very strong distance-wise behind Colin O'Rielly, Diego Palmisano, and Jaylen Mallett and the 4x800 will be gravy points at State. North Oconee is led by 4A XC champ Davis Potts and multi-athlete Jordan Fick who could score over 30 points in early May down in Albany. Other podium contenders are Baldwin led by hurdler Dexter Ricks, Jr, Stephenson powered by Bradley Favors, Monroe-Albany led by 400/800 specialist Kason Jones and Jefferson, who if Malachi Starks runs hurdles this spring could be much stronger.
