Latest GHSA Statements on Coronavirus Situation

The GHSA met on Thursday 26th and will follow Governor Kemp's lead and extending the mandatory closing of all schools through April 24. The GHSA will follow this edict and reminds member schools that all practices and contests will remain suspended until at least April 24. The governor's office has indicated that he likely will make a decision on the remainder of the school year sometime prior to April 24. Therefore at or before that time, the GHSA office will inform our member schools of a decision regarding resuming spring sports and activities.

It was brought to my attention that the GHSA also met on Friday, but were not prepared to update the status  any further of member schools at this time. There have been rumors that Albany has expressed they will not be hosting the A Public, 3A, 4A state meet due to Dougherty County being a hotspot in the state for COVID-19. As of today there have been 205 cases and 17 deaths in that county. The GATFXCCA is having a conference call tonight and if there is any news from that we will let you know. Everyone, please practice social distancing and stay safe if working out or going outside your homes.
