South Forsyth brings their large and strong distance contingent to Milton to fend off the big track powerhouses of Brookwood, Mill Creek, Walton & Pope. The 7A state cross country runner-ups will run their aces in all the main distance events/relays to counter the teams with deep field event and sprinting squads.

2-Mile

State cross country top-finishers Madelyn Cadeau (South Forsyth, 7A), Kathleen Shellman (Marist, 4A) & Ashley Sechrest (Cambridge, 6A) will jump-start the action on Saturday as they challenge the 11:19.33 stadium record.

Distance Medley Relay

All the top distance schools will run for the meet win with South Forsyth, Pope, Cambridge, Milton, Walton & Mill Creek all in contention for the final event of the 1st day of the meet.

Pole Vault

With 7 girls entered with marks over 9 feet, the competition should be good with Walton’s Rachel Valentine leading the way (11 ft).

4x800 Relay

South Forsyth looks to be the dominant team and will take a shot at the stadium record of 9:54.17 as their distance aces look to go under 9:40 and will be pressed by Walton, Pope, Mill Creek & Johns Creek.

800m Sprint Medley Relay

With 5 schools coming in with times at under 1:57, the stadium record may fall with Walton, Carver, Mill Creek, Chattahoochee, Brookwood and current record holders Alpharetta set to defend their record of 1:51.06.

Others

Entrants with marks superior to the current stadium records include Mia Anderson of Mill Creek (38’1.5”) & Jana Barden (38’0”) both in the triple jump, Ryan Jackson of Cambridge (18’2.5”) & Morgan Bentley of Brookwood (18’3.75”) in the long jump & Elasia Campbell of Walton (5’7.25”) in the high jump.

BOYS

Mill Creek is the strong favorite with many top-athletes in the individual events, especially in the field and in the sprints & hurdles and will also contend in the distance relays as their all-around squad will score in most every event but will be challenged by host Milton, last year’s 5th place state team in 7A.

Highlighted Events:

5000m

The meet starts off on Friday after the 4x400 with a very competitive 12 and a half lap tussle between Ole Miss signee Jack Filan (Cambridge 6A) and Calen Gizelbach (Forsyth Central 7A) who will run for the University of Dayton next fall. Sean Rager (Alpharetta 6A), Axel Mateo (Pope 6A) & Hayden Marshall (Milton 7A) will be in the mix in this historically competitive race with many going under 16-minutes.

400m Hurdles

Yes, you are reading that right! The host Eagles will contest the 400m Hurdle event, rarely run at the high school level, for the first time and William Wideman (Pope), Joshua Flynn (Alpharetta) & Ben Hansen (Chattahoochee) will lead the way as the meet will also have the 100/110m & 300m hurdle events as well!

800m

With 3 entries that have run under 1:58, the stadium record (1:56.88) is in play with Ben King (Walton), Anthony Parisi (Pope) & Tyler Falon (Chattahoochee) all chasing the coveted mark.

800m Sprint Medley Relay

This is the final event of the meet and the stadium record is always in play in this seldom run relay. Record holders Mill Creek (1:33.70) return but will be challenged by previous record holders Alpharetta & Centennial but will also have to contend with Carver (Atlanta) as they have run sub-1:30 for the event.

Others

Entrants with marks superior to the current stadium records include Milton’s Mathew Mazzacano in the Pole Vault (15’2”), Chattahoochee’s Kevin Yang in the Triple Jump (48’0”) and Calen Gizelbach doubling back in the 2-Mile after the 5000 (9:27.00).
