This morning I left the cool wet weather of Atlanta for what I hoped would be a warm and sunny SanDiego. I was not disappointed. It was sunny and 85 degrees when my plane touched down. I met the Footlocker group at the airport and traveled to the Hotel del Coronado where I will be staying for the next three days.
Upon my arrival to the hotel I went to the New Balance welcome lounge to receive my race uniform and gear and get a much needed massage! I received plenty of goodies including running shoes, socks, warm up pants, racing shorts, a singlet, a really cool new balance back pack, and a host of other cool items.
My mom and dad even got cool t shirts that said "Go Kyle". As I was walking through the hotel, I saw a couple of new balance pro runners, such as Emma Coburn, Cory McGee, Brenda Martinez, and Boris Berian.
Next I went on a four mile group run right along the beach at sunset which was incredible. Finally the day was closed out with dinner and a t-shirt design contest. My first day in San Diego was definitely an eventful one, and I look forward to tomorrow and being able to see the race course for the first time.
