Girls Preview
It looks like it will be a McEachern & Westlake relays are loaded again. Both relay teams are considered among the nations best and each relay leg is stacked with sprint power. Makenzie Dunmore who is one of the nations best in the 400 meters is entered to run the 100 meters & with a sunny & warm forcast the track fans will see a great 100 meters. Dunmore & Westlake's Kennedy Simon are also entered in the 200 meters. In addition, the sprint races will be concluded with the 4x4 teams from Westlake A-C team, McEachern's A & B team & Alexanders 4x4. During the morning field event sessions the girls long jump is a area you may want to be at. There are 4 girls who what jumped 17-18ft. Woodward's Erica Evans, Columbia's Aseneth Williams, & Westlake's Rabreekia Harrison are listed as the top jumpers. The PV has 2 girls that have jumped over 10ft which are high flyers from Woodward (Alex Potts) & Alexander (Bailey Baggett)
Boys Preview
The meet winner will comedown to the 4x4. There are 3 teams capable of walking away with the first place trophy in team points which will be Southwest Dekalb, McEachern, & Westlake. These 3 teams are sprint heavy teams with who will make a run at the State Title. SWD is a loaded team who has the capability of lowering the GA High School record Banneker set on them last year @ 3:12 and SWD can possibly flirt with sub 3:10 area SMH. On paper they are led by the Conwell twins who both have the capability of split 47 last year, then they have another 48 leg and a 49 leg. So watch out for SWD once the weather warms up this season because they will get faster & faster leading up to the state meet. The boys open 100 is highlighted by McEachern's Tyler Simmons (10.6). The boys 110 hurdles are led by Westlake's Wesley Watkins (13.5) & Westlake's young sophomore Rainey Anderson (14.3). SWD Terry Conwell (47.5) & Justin Tomlin (48.5) are both entered in the 400 meters. The last race of the day is sure to be a show between SWD, McEachern, & Westlake.
