Suheib Mohamed led Clarkston placing 5th as the Angoras defended their 5A Boys title.
This was the fastest race of the day using the 'Slipperation Slope' route. Why and how is it that those Angoras from Clarkston have run so well at State the past 3 years? It must be the secret hot sauce, for they once again rose up and performed beyond expectations, defending their 2014 title. Key was their packing 5 across the line with a Split of :57 and Jr Suheib Mohamed placing 5th overall at 17:16. Will there be a movie in the works for these guys like 'McFarland USA'…?
Jake Shewbert from Flowery Branch had the fastest time of the meet on the 'Separation Slope layout.
Forsyth Central had the tightest pack of the top 7 teams with a :47 Split and cashing in for 2nd place as a team. The Bulldogs were led by Sr Will Hasse and his 11th place finish of 17:44. Flowery Branch may not have had one of their best outings at State, but they still took the 3rd Podium spot, led by Individual winner Jake Shewbert. Shewbert chewed the turf up before it turned really muddy, and he posted a winning time of 16:49. Alexander was on top of the polls most of October at least, and they repeated their 2014 4th place finish. Braeden Collins led the Cougars once again, placing 8th at 17:39 and making the All-State squad. Cambridge was a strong 5th, a mere 14 points back.
5A Boys reach the beginning of Loop 2
There were a slew of Top 10 Individuals whose teams did not make the Podium, including Colton Page from Allatoona who had a nice runnerup effort of 16:54. Sam Bowie from Lagrange placed 3rd, going 16:59, Allen Clark from Lakeside Evans was 4th (17:04), Ermais Tewolde of Druid Hills 6th (17:36), Jeryck Wilson of Cedar Shoals 7th (17:39), Jallah Galimah of Heritage HS 9th (17:41), and Austin from Northside Columbus 10th (17:43).
