Duluth, Georgia - The Inaugural Great Labor Day One Mile Race will be held at Gwinnett Place Mall, 2100 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth, Georgia 30096 on Labor Day, September 7, 2015, 8 a.m. An instructional sport summit opens the 2-day event on Sunday, September 6th, at 2 p.m. Both days are free to spectators. Elite training camps from around the country, including Furman Elite and Zap Fitness will have their featured runners competing for top times in the Men's and Women's elite race. Sub 4 minute performances are anticipated in the men's event. Gwinnett Ford sponsors the Men and Women's elite races. Competitions will also be held in five different one-mile races for open, masters and fun run - a race for every ability.
The event starter and featured speaker at the Runner's Summit on Sunday, September 6, 2015 will be Sir Peter Snell of New Zealand, multiple Olympic Gold medal winner in the 800 and 1500 meters. Kathryn Martin, a National and Master's record setter in the 800 meters to 50K races, will provide her insights into racing and competing.
