Mill Creek's Sara Scales crosses the finish line 2nd in 19:24
It's been Its been awhile, but Collins Hills' girls are back on top after winning the 7-AAAAAA title on a 6th runner tiebreak over Mill Creek. Coach Huddy's squad did it by displaying an amazing display of pack running with a 1-5 Split of 11 seconds! Leading their tight pack was sr Kitty Moraes placing 9th in 20:19. and the quartet of Lacey Ellenberg, Lenora Luce, Anna Dent and Aileen Bueno ate up the 11-14 spots w/ a Split of :07. Mill Creek's efforts were sparked by a trio of frontrunners sweeping the top 3 places including race winner Hannah Petit in 19:03, Sara Scales 2nd at 19:24 and Camryn Petit 3rd in 19:50. A serious scrum was going on for 3rd place as North Gwinnett edged rival Suwanee school Peachtree Ridge by 1 point. N.Gwinnett slid 2 gals into the top 10 including Sidney Sheppard 4th at 20:06 and Sarah Melkerson 7th in 20:14. Ridge was paced to their 4th place team finish by soph Meghan Peel's 6th in 20:07. Gabrielle Gusmerotti from Norcross Q'd as an individual taking 5th in 20:07.

Sam Costa from Mill Creek heads to the finish line in 16:09
Mill Creek's boys were the favorite to win the region and they ran up to expectations scoring 37 points defeating consistently strong Peachtree Ridge by 16 points. The Hawks did it by placing their top 5 in the first 13 spots led by Overall Champ jr. Sam Costa as he rolled to a 16:09 with teammate Noah Hollis taking 5th in 16:38 and soph Jordan Ashwood capturing 7th at 16:48. The Lions of Peachtree Ridge placed 2 runners in the first 6 including sr. Issac Penman (16:24) and Nate Reichard 6th (16:47) Upstart Mountain View has improved by leaps and bounds the past 2 seasons capturing 3rd as a team led by Tyler Barber's 2nd place effort at 16:23 and Bobby Tucker's 8th at 16:59. Collins Hill boys were 4th teamwise led by sr. Allan Tyler's 4th place finish in 16:37.
