Middle School State Girls Preview
Small School-
The small school race , which includes only 1A schools and 'home schooled' athletes is smaller in size, but will be be competive. The team favorites (and its hard to gauge this for MS) are likely to be Paideia, Athens Christian, Hebron Christian, Landmark Christian, and Prince Avenue. The top Individuals one should see separate from the pack early are Madison Britt from Prince Avenue, Faith Bobak of Wildwood Christian, Payton Johnson of Hebron Christian, Gabrielle Martin of Athens Christian, and Piper Kay of little ol' Team Fusion out of Royston.
Medium School- Holy Innocents, Bleckley County MS, Decatur, Pace, Jefferson MS and Lovett have all performed well in the last few years down in Cochran. Holy Innocents and Decatur have very large programs which have won State titles recently perhaps giving them the inside track to a another title. Top individuals per our wonderful MileSplit database are Haley Hooper of Lovett, Victoria Flowers of Westminster, Maggie Carlton of Decatur, Eliza Harmon of Holy Innocents, Emily Parker of Jefferson and Macy Moe from Bleckley
.
Large School- This one is going to be a barnburner as nearly 300 girls will be banging elbows and knees. The best runners will need to take advantage of the start and be first to the nearly 180 degree turn back towards the first pass under the finish line so they can avoid the mob. Teamwise, its hard to bet against Marist school. Marist rarely competes in meets during the regular season that turn in results, but make the trek down to Cochran stealing the booty and heading back to Atlanta. Woodland Euharlee has traditionally competed well. Its fairly wide open but watch out for Marietta if they have enough for a team.
This is the race for Girls who are the best of the Middle Schoolers. If I don't mention everyone its because the list is far too long, and parents please don't get upset at me. Sydney Runyan is the defending Champ, Emily Golden of Tift County has ran well all season as has Caroline Patterson of Great Strides. Nyah Hernadez, Erin Hobbs, Mallory Luskus and Katya Bessiere
