Varsity Boys

 

In the Varsity Boys race the lead group consisted of about 8 runners for the first half of the race. Woodstock’s Owen Bailey took control of the lead the last mile and won the race in 17:22. Creekview’s Grant Slater and Zac Cantrell were on his heels until the last 800 meters when Bailey began to surge. Sensing opportunity in a late race burst Johns Creek’s Max Rabin, Woodstock’s Austin Bailey and Creekview’s Nick Turano also accelerated in the last 800m. Rabin finished 2nd in 17:44 and A. Bailey finished 3rd 17:47. Following them was a trio from Creekview, Cantrell in 17:53, Slater, 17:54 and Turano 17:57.  Rounding out the top ten were Chattahoochee’s Owen Schulinger and Woodstock’s Josiah Jaqua, Kyle Pawloski, and Patrick Nolen

 

Woodstock won the boys race with 31 points, followed by Creekview (44), Johns Creek (59), Chattahoochee (118), Sprayberry (126) and Kings Ridge (156).

 

Varsity Girls

 

In the Girls Varsity race the winner was obvious after mile one when Woodstock’s Alexandra Melehan came through the mile about 20 seconds ahead of the next group of runners. She finished in 20:26, nearly a minute ahead of Chattahoochee’s Charity Starkes who finished 2nd in 21:20. Johns Creek’s lone top 10 finisher was Allison Rothrock who finished 3rd in 21:27. Following her were Creekview’s Lauren Wallin (21:44), Sprayberry’s Nadia Hawk (22:04), Woodstock’s Bailee McInnis  (22:09), a Creekview duo of Rachel Boulineau (22:30) and Dara Staton (22:35). Jamie Seubert from Chatt, and Taylor Poole from Woodstock finished 9 and 10 respectively.

 

Creekview won the Girls race with 44 points over Woodstock’s 47. John’s Creek scored 74, Chattahoochee 79, Sprayberry 112, and Kings Ridge 171.
