Carrollton 'Last Chance' This Saturday

        Carrollton 'Last Chance' This Saturday

The Carrollton Last Chance meet  has been a staple here in Georgia since or around the State meet has been hosted there. The course has gone thru some radical alterations due to construction since 2003 and the 2012 version flat out put a hurtin' on runners who were lacking in strength. Another couple of changes were made removing the extreme u-turn to the left of the finish area, instead with a straight shot to 'Separation Hill' I believe its termed now.

My honest opinion, (for smart coaches who have big region meets) is this meet is what it is. A 'Last Chance' for runners to familiarize theirselves for what they face on November 9th, AND....perhaps a 'first chance' for schools who are confident they will qualify out of Regions, for runners who have never raced here and for those who have never ran the new course. Also a great opp for young JV runners with talent to stretch their legs who won't be top 7 for their teams at Region

Anyone out there 'racing hard' is taking a foolhardy risk of becoming injured, imho. But, surely some squads will be under direction to race, while others will 'tempo it' and have a good workout for Region. 85 schools will be running and 2400 athletes have been registered to compete.  A Public has only 1 school competing Saturday (nearby Gordon Lee) these schools will struggle mightily on the hills of Carrollton in 2 weeks after racing on flat courses all season...It will also serve as a dry run for State to be chip timed. MileSplit hopes to have a course video for viewing in a week or so.
