We've heard from all the Featured Meet this week, so now here's a summary from a few other important meets including First Presbyterian Day-WRHS 2nd Annual Run Wild Invitational (whew that's a long meet title) Hare and Hounds Invitational in NC, Lambert River Run, Lee County HS Invitational, Columbia County Home Meet 9-19 and the 3rd Annual Coach Daley Invitational. Coaches, you are encouraged to submit summaries of your meet for posting and add photo galleries and video to Ga.MileSplit thru the meet page. Every Saturday timing meets there are scores, even hundreds of fans, parents even coaches taking pics. In a meet co-hosted by FPD and Warner Robins, 10 middle Ga schools fought it out at the Georgia Children's Industrial Course (same course, same day GISA hosted the Rams Invitational) Ola Boys squeeked out a 1 point win over Columbus HS by putting 3 guys in the top 9. Erik Roberts was the top runner for Ola placing 4th in 17:45  Michael Rowlands from Veterans HS won the overall title in 17:03 with Will Roberts of FPD placing 2nd in 17:14  

The Girls race was almost as tight as the boys with co-host 1A Private FPD seizing the title with a 3 point win over #5 ranked 4A Veterans HS. FPD packed 4 girls in the top 10 spots led by overall runnerup Jessica Smith who turned in a 20:18 Veterans' runner Bethanie Bailey was the individual champ in 19:53  

On a 2500 Meter course (GISA MS length) Bleckley County MS (host of the Georgia MS State Meet in Cochran) swept the team titles. Racing to individual wins were Bleckley's Jahnaria Brown in 10:18 (girls) and Sean Hesketh from Bonaire MS in 8:53

Way down south in Leesburg (a few minutes north of Albany) 15 schools came together on the quick Lee County couse with the Bainbridge boys outdueling Westover's lads in a tight race. The Bearcats won the team title with a 10 point margin as Chase Harris (canidate for South of the Border ROY) wasn't being caught today with a fleet 16:01 for the overall title. Dale Pate of Worth County turned in a 17:22 just nipping Pelham's Guthrie Edwards at the finish line. Tyler Sheffel was Westover's top runner back in 7th.

In an incredibly tight race 4 schools were separated by only 10 points as the Jones County girls may have won their first weekend invitational in recent history besting runnerup Tift County, 2A ranked Thomasville and Westover. Soph Kate Boland led the Greyhounds effort placing 4th. Another Bainbridge runner claimed the girls overall as Paige Braswell schooled the field in 20:25. Westover's Janie Plowden was 2nd in 21:13

In the MS 3K races Tift Middle won the girls team race sweeping the 4-8 spots and Colquitt MS Elizabeth Funderburk was overall winner in 12:56.  Host Lee County kept the 1st place team trophy behind Samad Mills' 11:47 win. Kaleb Harris of Bainbridge was 2nd in 11:55

                                                                Columbia County Home Meet

Grovetown hosted this meet last Thursday at Wildwood Park as 10 east Ga schools competed. Highly ranked 5A Greenbrier made it their party placing 5 runners in the top 6 spots. Logan Hughes made it look easy winning in 17:10 with teamate Jon Townsend 2nd in 17:25. Evans' Justin Weegar placed 3rd in 17:51 Greenbrier's girls made it a sweep winning the girls race scoring 26 points behind race winner Laura Shillingsburg's 21:49  An improving Evans squad came in 2nd.

This meet was a showdown between Coweta County squads host Northgate and cross county rival Newnan in both varsity races with Northgate taking wins in both. It must have been a tough course judging by the times recorded. In the girls race host Northgate swept the top 3 postions for the victory led by race winner junior Caitlin Bellora as she was never challenged clocking a 20:20 The Northgate guys claimed a narrow 4 point victory over Newnan who sported overall winner Matthew Miller in 17:59

                                                                   Hare n' Hounds Invitational

Top Ranked All-Class Boys St.Pius X traveled to Charlotte NC this weekend and stretched their legs out on McAlpine Park. The Lions ran to the team Championship placing 3 runners in the top 8 scoring 61 points winning easily dispatching many top ranked North Carolina squads. Austin Sprague had his Foot Locker South Regional warmup race (if Pius doesn't go to Nike Regionals) placing 2nd in 15:10 a second behind winner Brent Demarest of Porter-Gaud. Stephen Martinez was 5th in 16:06 and Nick Calia 8th in 16:16  The JV boys steamrolled everyone in their race scoring 20 points sweeping the top 4 places led by Ryan Kelly in 17:17 Can you say St.Pius may have some depth?

Lambert hosted its 2nd Annual River Run which had 7 schools in attendance. North Hall came and conquered the course for team honors winning with room to spare. The Trojans put 4 in the top 8 led once again by 3A Week 4 ROW Bryce Schuebert winning in 16:33 edging teamate Quintin Miles in 16:35. 6A South Forsyth came in 2nd as a team spurred by Ryan Pepperhorst's 3rd place finish in 16:42. It was a contest for Forsyth County bragging rights in the Girls race as South Forsyth toppled rival West Forsyth by 8 points in a warmup for the County meet. South put 4 girls in the top 10 including Savannah Carnahan who was the top individual in 19:12. Jessica Zalzman of 1A Pinecrest was hot on heels in 2nd at 19:16  In the MS races 2 6th graders from the 'Great Strides' Club won the individual titles. Not sure if they are twins..but Caroline Foster won in 12:35 and Michael Patterson took the boys title in 12:17
