WE WILL ALLOW 10 VARSITY ENTRIES
FOR THE HS JV RACES, IF THE # OF RUNNERS ENTERED IN RACE #'s 5 AND 6 APPEARS HIGH ENOUGH, WE WILL LIMIT JV ENTRIES FOR THOSE RACES TO 10 (TO INSURE UNCROWDED RACING CONDITIONS).
IN THE EVENT THAT WE LIMIT JV ENTRIES FOR RACES #5 & 6, JV ENTRIES IN ADDITION WOULD BE SHIFTED TO THE OPEN / CO-ED JV RACE (RACE #7).
COACHES - PLEASE EMAIL YOUR APPROXIMATE # OF JV ENTRIES TO COACH ROPER (debbieroper@pickenscountyschools.org) BY 10/5/13 SO WE CAN DETERMINE WHETHER RACE #7 IS NECESSARY.
Race Times:
(1) Middle School Boys - (3200 meters) 8:00 AM
(2) Middle School Girls - (3200 meters) 8:30 AM
(3) Varsity Boys - (5K) 9:15 AM
(4) Varsity Girls - (5K) 9:45 AM
(5) J.V. Boys - (5K) 10:30 AM
(6) J.V. Girls - (5K) 11:00 AM
(7) Open / Co-Ed. JV - (5K) - 11:30 AM
(Race #7 will be added if JV entries exceed 325
runners for races # 5 and/or 6)
- Races 1-6 will be officially timed.
- JV races will not be scored.
- Race #7 (if necessary) will not be officially
timed or scored.
Entry Fees:
Entry fee is $65 per H.S. Varsity Girls' or Boys' team ($130 total for both) if received by 10-5, $75 per team ($150 for both) if received between 10-7 and 10/11; no charge for H.S. - J.V.
Entry is $35 for M.S. Girls' or Boys' Teams ($70 if you bring both) if received by 10/5, $40 per team ($80 for both) if received between 10/7 and 10/11.
Individual entries are welcome - charge is $10 per athlete. Athletes must compete in appropriate race for age.
For high school races, GISA and/or other non-GHSA member schools or running clubs are welcome to enter the MS and JV races - sorry, GHSA rules.
Make checks payable to "PHS XC Booster Club", and put "Sharptop (XC)" in "for" line.; no charge for H.S. - J.V. (unless no Varsity entries).
Mail entry fees to: Debbie Roper at 500 Dragon Dr. Jasper, GA 30143.
Entry Deadline: October 16th at midnight. Entry is open now.
Enter top 10 runners in varsity HS races, unlimited entries in JV and MS races.
As detailed above, in the event that the JV Races 5 and/or 6 exceed 325 runners entered, those races will be limited to the top 10 JV and any additional JV will be directed to the Open / Co-Ed JV Race (#7).
Please notify Coach Roper of your approximate # of JV Boy and JV Girl entries by 10/5/13.

Awards: Team trophies to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in Middle School and Varsity races. No team awards in J.V. races. Individual awards to top 10 finishers in every race, boys and girls. Special "Sharptop Invitational Race Champion" t-shirt to individual winners for each race.
M.S. team awards will be presented after start of Girls' Varsity race. Varsity team awards will be presented after completion of all races. Individual top 10 medals for each race will be presented at the finish chute.
Course: With a little walking, runners are visible over approximately 1/2 of the course with great views of start and finish for spectators. Course is mostly flat, but with some short, challenging hills and a tunnel. Terrain varies and includes grass, asphalt, gravel road, dirt, and cement sidewalk. The high school course loops around Roper Park, passes through a tunnel (under Refuge Rd.) to a loop behind Pickens County Middle School, and then passes back through the tunnel to finish in Roper Park. Finish is close to the start.
The middle school course involves much of the same terrain and will also go through the tunnel to the PCMS part of the course. Runners will return to finish on the same field they start on.
Facilities: Restrooms will be available.
Concessions: Food and drinks will be available.
Spectator Admission: A $3 entry fee will be charged for adults, $1 entry for students and children.
T-shirts: Customizable meet T-shirts by EagleSportz will be available for sale .
Parking: Parking for spectators is available at Roper Park or across the street at Pickens County Middle School (PCMS). All buses will be directed to park at PCMS with teams entering Roper Park through the tunnel.
