Cobb Co. Championships start Saturday with star studded field!

Entry lists for the Cobb Co. Championships have been posted on the meet page. With a plethora of elite performers, the Cobb Co. Championships should provide several exciting races. The race that seems to have garnered much of the attention is the boys 1600m, where Ben Hubers (4:12) will line up against Jay Heller from Walton (4:15), Stephen Arnold (4:23), Brian Potts (4:25.24), Corey Hunter (4:27) and Miles Svoboda (4:29). But that\'s not all that will be on display at this prestigious meet.

In the field events, Trey Charles, of Marietta, has already gone 24\' this season. In the high jump, you have the defending state champ, Jerome McKenzie of Marietta. The discus will feature three throwers with bests over 150\', including Chris Davenport of South Cobb and David Schiedt of Lassiter. The 800 should provide for some fast times as Derrickus Johnson of South Cobb comes in with a 1:56.

On the girls side, the shot put will feature such notables as Kristen Smith of Sprayberry with a 45\' personal best and Lauren Chambers of Kell with a best over 42\'. In the discus, watch for Emily Bernhardt of Lassiter with a big perfromance at the Coaches Invitational. The 1600 will also feature such top athletes as Taylor Adams of Sprayberry, Leila Norman of Walton. Lindsey Pickens of Kennesaw Mountain and Kylie Foley of Harrison.
