Georgia Junior College Report

Two of Georgia's Junior College Teams (Chattahoochee Technical College and Middle Georgia College) competed in the Small College Division of the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, NC this weekend. All other GJCAA schools were idol. Chattahoochee Tech's Women's Team member Aybuke Kizilarslan surprised many spectators as she won the small college race with a time of 19:09.40 on the 5K course. Tricia Stavincha from the CW Post Track Club placed second (19:19.40). CTC's other finishers included Corila Kock (100) and Dekita Green (102).

In the Men's Division, Chattahoochee Tech's Theron Ellis led the Georgia Junior College finishers by placing 68th with a time of 30:57.70 on the 8K course. Middle Georgia College's Cory Benjamin finished in 69th place with a time of 30:50.60. MGC's Andrew Cochran and Nick Crawford finished 73rd (32:18.50) and 76th (32:31.80). CTC's Mohamed Balde finished 83rd (32:44). Followed by MGC's Josh Cole (84th, 32:45.10), CTC's Matt Sword (88th, 33:06.50), MGC's Steve Kennedy (93rd, 33:34.90), CTC's James Barkley (99th, 36:07.50), CTC's Paul Knopick (103rd, 36:31.50), MGC's Adam Lucas (105th, 40:37.20), and CTC's Lamont Davis (110th, 43:41.80).

In the team standings, Johnson Country Community College, from Kansas (ranked 8th in the NJCAA) won the race with 59 points. Middle Georgia College placed 14th with 364 points and Chattahoochee Technical College placed 15th with 385 points.
