19:00 avg, 1st in 7A. As expected, Marietta girls are back on top, albeit not quite as dominant as expected. Last year it seemed unlikely anybody would catch them but this year there are at least 2 teams who could make a case. They still don't have a weakness though as they have solid front runners and very good depth. They'll be tough to knock off

19:03 avg, 1st in 4A. Tough to decide between the next two teams on this list so I went with the recency bias. Either way Pace is heading towards their best season ever and will be tough for anybody in 4A to take down this year. If they stay healthy, they'll likely remain near the top of these rankings all season long

19:34 avg, 1st in 6A. Missing their top runner at the recent meet but still performed very well. They have two of the top freshman in the state to just replace the seniors who graduated last year. It's just a revolving door of talent over at Marist and these ladies are a typical team near the top of these rankings.

19:57 avg, 2nd in 6A. Very solid start for the Pius ladies who could get dangerous when they get full strength. But that's been their typical story lately so who knows what will happen in November. They've still got several good runners and a tight enough pack that they can contend with almost anybody in Georgia.

20:22 avg, 3rd in 6A. Well nobody is surprised to see the three catholic schools up near the top of the girls rankings and really you could argue any order for them at this point. BT ladies are strong as always and like many teams on this list have both front runners and depth at 4-5. They had a strong showing at their first two meets and if they improve could move up the list.

19:56 avg, 2nd in 7A. It was clearly an off day for them at Cobb compared to thier other races so far this year so I'm not going to ding them too much for one tough showing. My guess is they were just tired in their 3rd straight week of racing. But this team is still very good and worthy of a top ranking. the only question that remains for them is whether or not they can do enough to knock off Marietta.

20:47 avg, 1st in 1A-d1. These girls don't run too many big invitationals, as I assume that much travel would be miserable. But when they show up they're ready to go. They have one of the best coaches in the state and a superstar front runner to go with their incredible depth for class 1A. They look very ready to defend their title from last year.

19:40 avg, 3rd in 7A. They had a huge day at Cobb County, one that I definitely did not see coming. You could absolutely make a case for them to be several places higher up on this list, I just only have that one race to go on to compare to other teams. If they continue this trend expect them to move up the list and challenge for 2nd in class 7A or maybe even 2nd overall in Georgia.
9
19:45 avg, 4th in 6A. This is another team that had a big day at Cobb and one that could make a case to be much higher up this list. If they run like they did at the county meet all season, not only could they move up the list but they could maybe even go so far as to contend for a state title in 6A. And that's saying something because that might be the toughest classification to get on the podium.
10
20:56 avg, 1st in 5A. They looked like a lock to defend their title coming into this season, and might be better than this ranking. But they have another 5A team lurking right behind them in the rankings which just made that title chase much more interesting. So it'll be intereting to see where they focus their energy moving forward.

Introducing the Georgia MileSplit Top 25 teams. Team cross country rankings are taking on a different format this season. Think of them as similar to the Top 25 rankings in college football. These will include teams from all classifications across the state and are based on what teams have done so far. Some things were taken into account like missing runners when it was an obvious top runner, but for the most part it is based on what they've done so far. Please understand these are not meant to be predictions for upcoming meets, but more of a snapshot of where things are right now. The girls were even harder to rank than the boys. Really teams 2-3 are basically interchangeable and teams 4-9 could be argued to be in any order at this point. But there's also much more parity among the classifications on the girls side than there is on the boys side. We've got two intense weekends of racing coming up so I think we will all know alot more after that.
