Georgia HS Meet of Champions Produces 4 All-Time #1 Performances All-Classes!

(all photos by Chris D'Aquin)

The Inaugural Georgia HS Meet of Champions was a big success despite all the 'no shows' in the Sprints and Relay events. 4 Georgia All-Time #1 Performances were achieved, many more athletes will move into the Top 10 list and Tia Jones achieved the 2016 US #1 time in the 100 hurdles going 13.03!

Simply put, The Meet of Champions was amazing and I feel very fortunate to have been a tiny part of it (Fast Feet Timing) and blessed, to have witnessed all of the new all-time marks & times achieved by these great athletes. Coach Mike Judge did a great job organizing the event, along with Coach Brian Robinson from Alexander. USATF GA played a key role as well, providing many officials and judges, the starter and other key players. One truly needs to watch the video shot, as it will describe the race action far better than I ever could...A huge photo gallery is loading along with all the video which will be available Monday morning.

All Time #1 Times and Marks Achieved:

Tia Jones was amazing, going 13.03 in the Girls 100h. How low can Tia go ?

Tia Jones of Walton, 100h- 13.03 (shatters #1 Collegiate Heptathlete Kendell Williams old mark) and Tia is just a freshman, and a very sweet young lady, as I spoke with her briefly in the Timer's tent.

Word is... Devin was not satisfied with his State times, and did he ever make up for it setting the new All-Time Georgia record in the 800m race!

Devin Dixon of Eagle's Landing, 800m- 1:49.52...This was no small feat, as Devin posted a very sweet time of 46.91 in the 400m 3 hours earlier...pulling away down the homestretch, displaying his strength and speed. This moves Dixon to #5 in the USA currently.

Carson Dingler of FPD is completely focused clearing 13-03 on this attempt.

Carson Dingler of First Presbyterian Day, Pole Vault- 13-03. This is scary good folks, as Carson is only a junior.. We don't hear as much about Becky Arbiv, as she competes in the GISA, but Becky went 12-10.75.

Matt Moore from Union Grove is now #3 in the USA after clocking a 13.33 in the Boys 110 Hurdles.

Matt Moore of Union Grove, 110h- 13.33 Matt was incredibly swift and clean in the 110h Finals going 13.33 to move into #1 on the All-Time Performance List, as well as rising to #3 in the USA this Outdoor season! Another must watch on video.

Andrew Kent, Frank Pittman and Jake Shewbert put on a great show in the Boys 3200!

The Boys 3200m race-  was one to behold, remember and cherish...I've never witnessed a HS race where all the competitors in the field go sub 10:00. The entire crowd was summoned down onto the track, standing outside of Lane 4 to cheer the field on. Jake Shewbert of Flowery Branch was magnificent, taking the win in 8:58.78, with Andrew Kent and Frank Pittman pushing hard the entire race, as they almost seemed to be working together swapping the lead throughout the race. Kent took 2nd at 9:01.66 with Pittman a couple strides back in 3rd going 9:02.51...

Anna Marian Block held off all challenges taking the Girls 800 meters.

Anna Marian Block of Athens Academy turned in yet another 2:10 in the 800m. Its unfortunate Riley Burr from Milton fell ill before the meet and was not able to start as they may have pushed each other to a faster time.

Taylor DeLoach of SVA (lane 3) won an awesome Girls 100m dash race.

Tyler Terry of Central HS Carrollton (64) swiped the Boys 100m Dash. (Tyler also won the 200m dash)
