There were only 4 Region Meets contested Tuesday and Ga.MileSplit has received results from 2-AA, 7-AAA and 3-AAAA. These are a few of the outlying more 'rural' regions especially 2-AA and 3-AAAA. There were no surprises from any as the better teams during the regular season all advanced.

Wayne County HS harriers Nathan Dukes, Will Miller, and Marcus Wallace are headed off to attend college together and run Cross Country for South Georgia College in Douglas.

Having one, two or even three front runners is important but so often championship races are won by the 4,5 runners. Can the Lagrange duo of Coggins and Bowie hang with the Marist duo of Thurston and Navarro? For these SE Georgia teams, this meet served as a warmup for Regions. Wayne County came close to perfect scoring the Boys race with 17 points. South Effingham took the Girls title scoring 43 points. Beau Brooks of Wayne won the boys individual crown in 16:37 and Miracle Stanley of host Wayne Co. claimed the girls overall title clocking a 20:09.
The 2012 'South of the Border' Cross Country Honorees have finally been selected after a comprehensive set of criteria was met, data crunched, with State, Region and Course pr's factoring into the process as well as 'head to head' in a few cases. These athletes are the best of South Georgia and deserve to be recognized for all the miles, sweat and hard work they put in including in the Summer. There are a couple of athletes that had let downs at State, but their 'body of work' over the season was considered in their selection. Daniel Broadhead of Wayne County is the Boys 'ROY' and Anna Leigh Nix of Mary Persons is the Girls 'ROY'!
This season, the course at Carrollton has ran slower, and may have been lengthened a few meters which should favor the 'strength' runners. At press-time, it has been discussed that mats may possibly be covering the many pavement crossings which has been a sore subject for XC purists as the growth of Carollton Schools has stirred the pot enough for a few schools willing to loan the mats they have to cover the pavement.
