For the 5A Week Ending 9-20 Team Rankings the only movement up was by McIntosh's Boys after winning the Coach Daley Invite by 1 point over and Morrow cracking the top 10 for perhaps the first time in recent history. Compared to many meets today the Mercy Campus was about empty by 10:45am as the heat rushed patrons and runners alike to their cars/busses to get cool. The Individual Varsity races were a display of domination by Reilly Friedman and FCA's Emma Grace Hurley. Whitewater's Boys took the team title over a deeper Rockdale Co squad. Mega-school Centennial won the Girls Varsity team race. On a sad note, Helen Williams of AIS is out for the season with stress fracture of the hip.
This class is going to be very tight if things hold up on paper (which they rarely do, and why we run the races) A big miscue, False Start, DQ could cost the 5A team title. The players are Pope, which is strong all around. Miller Grove who has incredible speed and trackstar Tiffany Flynn. North Springs whose real scoring ops will be the sprints, hurdles and relays. New Manchester will rely on their speed, relays, hurdles and horizontal hops. Northside WR has Cassondra Hall whose the favorite to take the 100/200, and strong relays. Forest Park's strengths are on the Field and Hurdles.
