Perimeter School Annual Invitational Track Meet Rules

Track Meet Date: May 3, 2019


Please comply to the following rules:

1. Grade levels for boys and girls will be 3,4,5,6.

2. Students may not move up or down in grade levels.

3. Limit of participation by one student is 2 events maximum (including relays.)

4. Relay teams may include younger students in order to make a foursome if necessary, i.e. a 3rd grader may run on the 4th grade relay team. However, this same 3rd grader may not also run on the 3rd grade relay team. All members of a relay team must have the same color shirt.

5. Scoring to determine team winners will be 10-8-6-4-2-1 for individual events ad 10-8-6-4-2 for relays.

6. Awards will be given as follows:

a. Trophies to the top 3 teams boys and girls.

b. 1st 3rd Place medals to first - third place individuals and all members of 1st 3rd place relay teams.

c. Ribbons to 4th, 5th and 6th place in individuals (to 8th place in 100 meter) and 4th/5th place relay teams.

7. Two false start rule will be in effect in all running events, meaning individuals who false start 2 times will be disqualified.

8. Qualifying heats will be run in the 100 meter dashes.

9. Competitors must remain in their assigned lanes during the race to avoid disqualification. Please coach your students in this area.

10. Relay batons will be furnished by the Meet Director.

11. The Long Jump and the Shot Put will have a scratch board which cannot be crossed to record a legal jump or throw. Note: 5th and 6th graders will have a running long jump.

12. Competitors in the Long Jumps will be allowed 2 tries and Shot Put will be allowed 2 tries to produce their best effort. Grades 3, 4 & 5 will use a 6 lb. shot. 6th grade girls will use a 6lb. shot, 6th grade boys will use an 8lb shot.

13. Students not participating in an event will be asked to remain in the stands and off the infield and away from the school. Coaches may roam the track area but are asked to have someone to supervise their athletes in the stands.

14. The meet referee will appoint 2 representatives from other schools to form a 3 person jury to judge any close finishes.

15. A spirit of Christ-like sportsmanship should exist among all competitors and schools.
