A Public Sectionals were held way down south in Camilla and the meet enjoyed a nice turnout with some real Spring weather and gnats recalling memories of childhood. There was some great competition on both sides to qualify to State (especially the Boys Sprints as Raytez Jenkins of Central Talbotton blazed the host Eagles newly resurfaced track in the 100/200 meter races. McKinley West provided some home cookin' for the locals pushing Jenkins in both events...the TJ competition was intense with 3 Boys going 45+ including top q'r Jackyron Young from Irwin County. Dooly County, GMC, Terrell County, Hancock Central, Central Talbotton, Mitchell County and Commerce Q'd many athletes. On the Girls side Gordon Lee was dominant in the Field Events and should score big in Albany with 9 individual entries and 2 relay squads. Marion County advanced 11 athletes and both relay squads, Commerce advanced 11 athletes and 1 relay squad and GMC will have 11 chances to score. One sad note was witnessing the heartbreak of Mt. Zion Carrollton's Corrssia Perry upon finding out she was DQ'd in the 400m for a 'lane violation'. But, she came back strong a couple hours later qualifying 1st in the 200 meters much to her credit.
